Anthropy
Anthropy or Wereism is a disease that unwillingly transforms its hosts into wild beasts in the basking glow of a full moon. To the Onbustir and its worshippers, its hosts are seen as monsters, beasts and tainted-blood. Afflicted are usually nomads that traverse Batruus or stay in its untamed wilds, some even join druidic circles as protectors or keepers.
Transmission & Vectors
While an afflicted is transformed into their beast form if the victim is harmed by their teeth, claws or other natural weapons.
Causes
If the affliction has not been purged from the body before the next full or new moon then on the night of a full or new moon the afflicted will rapidly transform into their beast form. This transformation depends on which were-beast they were afflicted by.
Symptoms
- While the afflicted is not in their beast form animals will treat the afflicted as if they were the animal that their were-beast form transforms into.
- Afflicted appear to possess slight physical and mental changes in their human form that resemble their beast form (e.g Werebearism will cause the person to sleep longer in the winter and cause them to grow thicker body hair)
- The afflicted will unwillingly transform into their beast form on full moons unless they are affected by a spell that suppresses the transformation
- Immunity to other Diseases
Treatment
Before the next Full or New moon if the afflicted is affected by an effect that removes diseases the disease is purged. Once a Full or New moon is present the disease is too rooted into the afflicted's body to be removed.
Prevention
Any disease suppression spells or potions
Cultural Reception
Afflicted are seen as monsters to commonfolk as their beast form is seen as feral and uncivilised. Afflicted see their disease differently to other afflicted as some see it as a curse that forces them to always be on the run while others see it as a blessing that provides them with a peerless ability that helps them hunt and fight.
