Pebbling

Have you ever walked around all day, walking around without a worry, only to suddenly feel something poke the sole of your feet? And when you look inside of your shoe a tiny pebble seems to have appeared out of thin air. You shake it out, thinking it was just a unlucky incident, but as you do you also notice a hole in your sock. Surely your luck can't be worst... But what if I tell you that this was not a case of misfortune? No, this is the work of a tiny creature, known as a Pebbling!

Basic Information

Anatomy

Pebblings are tiny beetle-like creatures, only as big as a fingernail. They have twelve limbs on the underside of their body divided into two rows of six. The four limbs on the front are able to serve as arms, allowing the pebbling to hold onto things and to do some mildly complex actions such as pulling and pushing. On its back the pebbling has a off-white shell covered in grey lines. When a pebbling crawls inside of its shell it becomes nearly indistinguishable from a regular pebble.   Pebblings are incapable of flight, so to travel across difficult terrain they developed a special magical organ that allows them to turn themselves into gas. Then they float into whatever place they want to go before depositioning themselves into their solid state again. This is why a pebbling can suddenly appear inside of shoes and other inconvenient places.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Pebblings mainly feed themselves on textile fibres and have learned that the best place to find such materials are inside of the shoes and pockets of people. Because of this the pebblings like to float inside of these places, sometimes accidently poking the wearer's sole. When they notice the movement that comes with someone removing their shoes they quickly hide inside of their shell, fooling people into thinking it was just a pebble and safely dropping the pebbling on the ground. When a pebbling gets into a shoe with little to no lint they might instead decide to gnaw on the sock inside, eating a hole into the sock.
