Gullintann

Marching unendingly through the mountain paths with their wheezes and jittering steps, the towering Gullintann travel onward without rest or break. These golden mechanical golems are the arcane creations of fire giant blacksmiths, used to carry their goods through the rough mountain paths where traditional carts can not travel. They can carry up to 94 tonne of supplies with them and can travel 50 km/h.

Power Generation

The gullintann uses a fire crystal inside of its head that draws water vapour out of the surrounding air before boiling it again. The steam generated by this floats up into a piston valve. Here the steam expands, pushing the piston in the opposite direction. When the piston reaches the bottom an exhaust port is opened, letting steam out of the nostrils of the gullintann and reversing the process. These pistons move the gears inside of the boar, allowing for its locomotion. Through this system the gullintann is able to travel 430 kilometres before the fire crystal needs to be replaced.

Weapons & Armament

Gullintann come equipped with two large golden tusks which can be used to deliver a powerful goring strike capable of shattering any boulder it might come across. Despite the power that the gullintann's gore can deliver it is relatively sluggish and makes for a poor weapon of war. Still there have been times were giants have jury-rigged a gullintann to charge in and shatter the enemies defences.

Armor and defense

Gullintanns are covered in a thick layer of gold-alloy plate that even their giant owners find hard to dent in when cold but which can easily be repaired when heated up. When threatened the gullintann can overload it's internal fire crystal as a last resort, causing it to glow red hot as its alloy skin heats up, raising the temperature around it to over a 200 degrees. It can then use this heat to shoot superheated steam out of its nostrils that boil anyone who comes into contact with it alive. Doing this however burns out the fire crystal and is likely to melt some of the internal clockwork mechanisms.
