Epic V - Chapter 3: Fire, Fire, Fire!

General Summary

Harvester 9 - 29, 1216
After two weeks of traveling, the party returns to Ican City to recuperate and wait to be called upon by the Magic Council Research team. The party takes a week off doing various things, only to return to somewhat grave news. Pottafer, a Magi of the Lotus Flower, delivers news that the Prism Glass City of the Great Magic Council has disappeared, along with all the members of the High Magic Council. The higher ups within the faction have sent him to change the objective of the research team. They were to now find a way to close these Rifts for good as quickly as possible.
With this, the party and the Researchers now head to the North-Eastern Smile in search of a hag who only deals with adventurers. She possesses a magical font that Pottafer requires in order to help seal the rifts. However, once they arrive at where her cottage is located, it is realized that a Fire Rift lays waste to the surrounding area. They encounter two Aarakocra in search of a magical item who warn them of Gargoyles. After that, the party quickly gets the hag to help them as long as they help protect the village from the spontaneous combustions caused by the Rift.
In the middle of everything, Fire Snakes appear within the village, causing mass hysteria as everything burns and explodes all around. The party engages with these monsters but begin to slowly, slowly, realize they are not hostile. Then a larger Fire Snake appears and speaks in the tongue of Fire which only a few within the party can understand. It is revealed that they are residents of the Elemental Plane of Fire, and they seem to be lost. With a few exchanges, they agree to help put out the fires before they return home through the Fire Rift.
With the help of lost Fire Snakes, the party manages to keep the village from burning to the ground long enough for the hag to cast a barrier that keeps the magical fires from spreading. In thanks, she rewards them with her magical font. How can this item help seal the Rifts?
