Session 24 report

General Summary

Oh, he comin'

The party is currently at the Burgomaster's mansion.
Markadoo is holed up in Victors room and has created a water wall in front of the door.
He hears that Strahd has come up into the attic and is approaching.
Markadoo turns into a spider and climbs up into a cobweb in the corner of the ceiling.
He prepares to do battle with the spider that owns the web.
He goes to sneak up on it and attack it but the other spider senses him coming and dodges out of the way of his attack.
The spider turned around and bit Markadoo, causing him to transform back. The spider looked pleased with itself.
Annoyed, Markadoo casts frostbite at the spider. The spider seems unaffected and continues to spider around in its web, though the web ends up breaking causing the spider to tarzan into the wall.
Having been thwarted by a spider, the demoralised Markadoo climbs out the window.
Meanwhile Quill goes into a nearby house with Ireena while holding two skeleton cats. They all hide as best they can.
Strahd continues into the attic, trailed by Kriz and Fassi.
Fassi attempts to convince Strahd that the attic is messy and he wouldn't want to get his robes dirty.
Strahd spots the giant wall of water.
Strahd: Hmmmm
He beings to walk towards it.
Markadoo is trying to see where Quill went. He sees Quill's ears sticking up above a nearby window sill. And proceeds towards the house as Quill continues to hide. Quill looks around for obvious exits and considers leaving to go to another house.
She asks Ireena what she thinks.
Ireena is gagged.
Quill ungags her
Quill: "Should we go somewhere else or stay here"?
Ireena: "I don't think anywhere is safe from him, I don't know man!"
Quill re-gags her.
Ireena makes a disapointed noise.
In the mansion attic, Strahd proceeds towards the water wall while Fassi tries to stall him.
Stahd ignores Fassi and motions for the water wall to part. It splits and he walks through.
Fassi compliments him and Kriz asks if Strahd would like him to go first but Strahd ignores them and proceeds.
Fassi and Kriz follow him and the wall re-closes behind them.

Markadoo enters the house that Quill is hiding in, he hears Quill and Ireena talking in the bedroom.
Markadoo: You suck at hiding, I have a spell that will help you hide better.
Quill lets him in and puts a chair against the door. He casts pass without a trace and hides with Quill.
Back in the attic this causes the water wall to dissapear.
Markadoo: Quill, I could disguise myself as the resident of the house, we could trick him.
Quill: i'm just going to sit here and cower.
Quill rocks back and forth.
In the attic, Strahd notices the chair with the rope tied to it near the open window.
Fassi: She must have escaped!
Strahd: Where did you say your friends were again?
Fassi: Downstairs I suppose, I don't know why they would be anywhere else.
Kriz: I think I saw them downstairs
Fassi: I can only imagine who's made of with Ireena, she's such a prescious treasure, do you think something nafarious could have happened to her?
Stahd: I will find Tatyana one way or another.
Strahd looks out the window and sees a smashed cat on the ground below and rubs his chin before decending the rope.
Fassi flies after him and Kriz lowers himself down the rope.
In the house, Quill and Markadoo hear someone pushing up against the door with the chair leaning against it.
Markadoo disguises self as peasant.
Markadoo: Hey who came into my house?
(Quill considers running and abandoning everyone)
The person pushing against the door stops.
Markadoo gestures to Quill to hide in the closet.
Quill and Ireena hide in the closet.
Markadoo: You might not want to come in. I caught something nasty.
The door is kicked open. It is Rahadin.

He came

Markadoo: you're in for catching the plague my friend
Rahadin: Where are they? I saw them enter this house.
Markadoo: i'm the only one here all day
Rahadin covers his nose with his arm and looks around the room.
Meanwhile Strahd is proceeding towards the house, that now has an open door.
Fassi says everything she can think of to distract Strahd.
Strahd: I don't care about anything right now except for Tatyana.
Fassi: Alright understood, cool cool cool.
Fassi drops back and chats with Kriz about what they are going to do.
Kriz seems fine with helping him find Ireena, Fassi is very frustrated.
They have a back and forth and Fassi relents and agrees to help Strahd find Ireena.
They catch back up to him.
In the house, Rahadin is scanning the room.
He pushes Markadoo aside, Markadoo does not resist.
Markadoo: ooooh you're gonna get that plague
Rahadin rips the covers off the bed and sees nothing so crouches down to look under the bed.
Markadoo: Are you sure it wasn't my wife and daughter you saw? They left for obvious rea-sons
Rahadin gets back up.
Rahadin: get out of this room
Markadoo: It's my house!
Rahadin more forcefully: get. out. of. this. room.
Markadoo: Welp, I have no choice
Markadoo casts hold person.
Rahadin is paralized. A faint choir of screams begins to eminate from him.
Markadoo: Quill stab the bitch!
Quill runs forth and stabs him in the guts then runs and leaves through the window with Ireena and the cats Quill sprints away with no regard for the others.
Rahadin breaks free of hold person
Markadoo summons 4 black bears around him then runs to the corner.
Strahd approaches the house with Kriz and Fassi in tow.
Fassi: it seems like there is a bit of a domestic happening in there, we wouldn't want to dis-turb them.
Strahd continues to ignore her.
He reaches the house and stops and listens for a moment.
In the bedroom the bears attack.
Only one of the bears manages to bite him.
The bears then try to claw at him. Rahadin yawns and slaps two of them in the face as he dodges the blows.
Quill continues to run away as Ireena and the cats start to fall behind.
Irenna (gagged): mmmmm!
Rahadin casually dusts his belly off where he was stabbed.
He pulls out his scimitar and slashes one of the bears twice.
The screams emenating from him grow deafening.
One of the bears dies of fright while the rest groan in pain and attempt to cover their ears.
Markadoo turns into a bear and jumps out the window, he bangs his knees on the way through but makes it. He then legs it.
Strahd walks up to the bedroom window and peers in to see Rahadin fighting bears.
Kriz: god damn, why he fightin' bears?
The bears run and jump out the window following Markadoo. They split in different direc-tions.
Quill comes to her senses she turns around and spots Ireena, before motioning for her to follow. Quill looks into the window of a nearby house and it seems lived in but empty. She knocks on the front door as Ireena and the cats catch up huffing.
In the bedroom, Rahadin sees Strahd looking through the window and yells "They're getting away!" Before he leaves through the window to see the bears running off.

We're going on a bear hunt

Markadoo sniffs out Quill and knows the direction she headed in.
He doesn't run directly towards her location but runs sort of parrallel to it.
Strahd climbs up onto the roof and scouts the situation.
Strahd: If you two really want to help then help me catch these bears.
Strahd then chases one (A).
Kriz starts chasing another (D).
The bears are very fast.
Fassi ot Rahadin: What's up with all these bears?!? Have you seen any cats run through here? We are trying to help Strahd.
Rahadin: You are friends with the cat? Wait you are the ones who visited the castle earlier.
He looks to be thinking about turning on Fassi.
Fassi lightly grabs his arm, attempting to charm him.
...It does not work.
Fassi gives an awkward birdy smile
Rahadin snatches his arm away.
{Britt is concerned about egg}[br Fassi: Yes we went to the castle, and we are friends with the cat. but we are helping him find Ireena and there is no reason we can't look for our friend at the same time right?
Rahadin ignores her and looks back towards the bears.
Strahd shoots a beam of blue white light at a fleeing bear (A).
Fassi comes to the realisation that these bears probably belong to Markadoo as they look like the ones she had riden prior.
The bears all continue running. The one that Strahd hit is running slower.
Quill enters another house where she hides with Ireena.
Ireena peeks out the window and sees a bear (B). She looks at Quill with wide eyes and curls into a ball.
Fassi is sticking with Rahadin as he walks towards a bear.
Rahadin pulls out a dart blower and shoots one of the bears (B).
Markadoo (still a bear) keeps legging it).
Kriz is running for the nearest bear (D).
CHAOS
Strahd continues to chase and shoot blue beams at the bear (A) he is pursuing
The bears keep running.
Quill tells Ireena to stay and leaves the house they are hiding in. She approaches another house and enters.
Fassi catches up to one of the bears (C) (Which happens to be Markadoo) and asks if it knows where Markadoo or Ireena is.
The bear grunts before looking towards a building.
Fassi manages to pick up on the gist of what the bear is saying.
Fassi: thanks, i'll give you some meat or berries or fish!
Markadoo keeps running and ducks behind a building. He diguises himself as a villager.
Kriz keeps running after a bear (D). He tenacious despite the fact that the bear is faster than him.
Strahd, chasing a bear (A) leaves from view.
The bears keep running. A crowd screams as one of the bears (B) enter the town centre.
Lady wachter is giving a speech as the bear runs through.
Quill hides in the house she entered.
Ireena hides in the house Quill left.
Quill is truely running amok.
She starts running between the windows on either of the house, alternating to try to see what is coming from both sides.
Fassi catching on that the bears are friendy: "wow there are so many bears"
She tries to take advantage of the chaos to find Ireena and Quill by flying past house windows.
Quill sees Fassi approaching and signals.
Rahadin runs out and sees the bear(B) entering the town square: "Stop that bear"
The guards encroach on the bear.
Markadoo starts walking towards the town square while keeping out of sight by using back allys.

Kriz just keep on chasin bear (D)
The party all see Strad fly up into the sky on his flaming horse.

He looks around for a moment and then starts flying
The bears are running. Unbeknowst to the part bear (A) has been slain by Strahd. Bear (D) continues to run from Kriz like a greased pig.
Bear (B) is in the town square and is surrounded by guards.
The bear attempts to do a front flip over the guards and keep running.
It begins to run and manages to do a full flip but does not jump high enough and lands on the guards, bowling a handful of them over.
The guards stab him to death as Markadoo dubs him "the coolest bear".
Quill chills in the house she is currently in. Mixing it up a bit by not doing yet another breaking and entering.
She is doing her best to keep an eye on anything that may be approaching Ireena's house.
Fassi, having witnessed the bear(B) "Arial teabag some guards" swoops back over to Rahadin.
Fassi: Good job.
Fassi follows behind him.

Hide and seek

Rahadin walks forward and inspects the ground.
After a few moments Fassi sees him look up and in the direction of the houses Ireena and Quill are hiding in.
Markadoo makes it to the edge of the town square.
Kriz is still off at the south of town chasing Bear(D) and getting pretty over it TBH.
Strahd sails through the air.
Quill looks out the window and sees Rahadin investigating the ground and then looking up in her/Ireena's general direction.
Quill jumps out the window, sees Rahadin spot her and then she legs it.
Fassi decides to keep following along with Rahadin, intending to counter spell him if he does any spells.
Rahadin sprints in the direction he saw Quill run.
Markadoo disguises himself as Ireena and walks out into the town Square.
Markadoo: Oh Straaaaaaahd. I hace escaped my captors. come here and we can be re-united.
Kriz gives up on chasing bear(D), convinced he has done his best. He starts walking back.

Strahd is flying towards Ireena (Markadoo in disguise).
Quill is continuing to leg it.
Rahadin continues to give chase.
Fassi having seen Strahd approach places herself mid way between Rahadin and Strahd.
Markadoo commits to his resolve and thinks to himself. I've had a good, long life. It's time to pretend to be Ireena so she will be safe.
Following this thought, Markadoo seemingly flips and runs hides behind a building and goes invisible.
Kriz telepathically has a chat with his horse while walking towards the town square in defeat.
His horse is unfortunately in a stable and is unable to assist.
Strahd flies into the town square, lands and then begins walking towards where he saw Markadoo run.
Quill is continuing to leg it.
Fassi flies over to Strahd and compliments his entrance.
Strahd is ignoring Fassi and squinting to look for something. She can tell he isn't happy.
Fassi: I think Rahadin is around the corner but I can't be...
Strahd: Don't distract me!
Fassi: oh oh I would never mean to, i'm here to help...
Strahd looks back at her with a glare.
Fassi: Well, um, i'll be here in silence, as much silence as this bird has ever been able to muster.
Strahd's eyes narrow and a vein buldges in his forehead like he is about to lose his shit but he turns back to where he was looking.
Rahadin runs towards the direction he last saw Fassi in.
Markadoo's invisiblity wears off, Strahd inhales.
Markadoo (As Ireena): My captors tried to hide me from you, but their magic is not as strong as yours!
Strahds rage mounts in his face. It is clear that he knows that Markadoo is not Ireena.
He gets off his horse and glides up next to Markadoo.
Markadoo goes invisible, steps back and creates 4 bears.
