Badinean Date Notation

There are varying degrees of formality for notating the date in Badinea. Elements in (these brackets) are required, whereas elements in {these brackets} are optional.
  • Simple: (Day)(Month AbbreviationYears Before/After}
  • E.g. 37A {350A}
  • Regular: (Day)th (Month), {Years Before/After}
  • E.g. 37th Ador, {350A}
  • Print: (Day)th Day of (Month), (Years Before/After Midnight)
  • E.g. 37th Day of Ador, 350 YAM
  • Official: (Month)'s (Day)th Day, (Years Before/After Midnight)
  • E.g. Ador's 37th Day, 350 Years After Midnight
  • Formal: The Great (God/Goddess) (Month)'s (Day)th Day, (Year)th Year (Before/After Midnight)
  • E.g. The Great Goddess Ador's 37th Day, 350th Year After Midnight

Notes

  • In Simple, Regular, and Print notation, the year can be written out, either as the full acronym "YBM/YAM" or in full words "Years Before Midnight/Years After Midnight", if desired; however in Official and Formal notation, it is always written out in full.
  • In Simple and Regular notation, the order of the Day & Month can be swapped, however the year must always come last if included.
  • In Regular notation, it is acceptable to use standard numbers instead of ordinal numbers to write the date.

Simple

  • Personal notes & diary entries
  • Reminders
  • Order tickets
  • Receipts for small purchases, such as groceries, accessories, or books

Regular

  • Dated schoolwork (usually with YBM/YAM)
  • Referenced dates in text
  • Receipts for large purchases, such as clothing, furniture, or magical items

Print

  • Publishing date of books & newspapers
  • References in academic papers
  • Local notices, not from official bodies
  • Internal notes within the Badinean Council

Official

  • Official notices
  • Legal documents such as house deeds, birth/marriage/death certificates, and business registration
  • Invitations & notices of semi-formal events such as graduations, entrance ceremonies, and elections

Formal

  • Invitations to important events such as weddings, coming-of-age ceremonies, and naming ceremonies
  • Documents of legal proceedings
