Vipern

Taipan and his mate Zathys created the Viperns; keepers of the spirits, and the guardians of tradition. Cunning and wise were they, honoring the sanctity of life and protecting the abundance of nature in the world the Divine had created.

Growth Rate & Stages

Every Vipern goes through their coming of age molt. It is a draining experience - and they sleep for a week or more while they shed their childhood and enter adulthood. Boys do not undergo a great change. They came out much as they had gone in - but bigger - more aggressive and ready to mate. Girls underwent the extreme revelation. They would go in as children and exit as fully formed women - the evidence of acceptance by the Mother-Dragon on their bodies as their skin changed to scale and their teeth grew in. Some would develop the slit-eyes that announced they were venomous- some would grow frills or horns. A very, very few would sprout soft feathers, but those were so rare as to almost be myth. Quetzalcoatl were blessings - a symbol of great change.
