Kratan King
The hereditary title of the leader of the Kratan Kingdom
Qualifications
The line of succession is determined as the eldest son of the sitting king. If the king has no sons, the eldest daughter is installed as Queen.
Requirements
The Kratan King must be a Praxxis by blood.
Appointment
When the sitting king reaches sixty years of age, he enters the twilight of his rule. On the following First day of the New Spring, the next in line for the throne is coronated as the new Kratan King.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
No Kratan king may sit the throne beyond his sixtieth year of life.
A sitting Kratan King may also be removed by the Kratan Senate. By unanimous vote, the senate can censure the king, essentially seizing power for a period of time. The vote for censure must be formally called for by the High Court of Kratus before it can be brought to the senate floor for debate. This drastic action is not without consequence; should a censure occur, The World Council of Azurvan would immediately oversee the Kratan government as executor by treaty, acting as a 'neutral' third party to stabilize the situation until such time as a suitable replacement of Praxxis blood can be installed. This caveat gives pause to kings and senators alike, and as such a censure vote has never been called in the history of the kingdom.
History
After the events leading to the time of Kratan Penance, Marcus Praxxis decreed that no King shall rule beyond their sixtieth year. Dominic Praxxis, Marcus's brother, had descended into madness by the time he'd reached the age of sixty, and Marcus believed that had his brother been made to relinquish the crown before then, he might never have had to remove him by force, and the Kratan Kingdom would not have been made to suffer two hundred years of penance. Where the crown is concerned, this policy is enforced by the Kratan Senate and The World Council of Azurvan. No Kratan King since Marcus has attempted to sit the throne longer than he has been appointed.

Dominic Robert Praxxis
Dominic Praxxis, the Mad King, prosecuted a brutal purging of the lands surrounding the Falboia Highlands. His actions led to the condemnation of Kratus by the World Council, and risked the destruction of the kingdom. Marcus Praxxis ascended the throne after desperately ending the tyrannical reign of his older brother. Marcus enacted dramatic reforms in how the Kratan Kingdom was governed, and laid the foundation for the kingdom's survival of their forced penance by the world council.
