Stormwind City

Stormwind City, located north of Elwynn Forest on continental Azeroth's northwest coast, is the capital city of the kingdom of Stormwind and the largest human city in Azeroth. After the Third War, it has become one of the last great human cities. No city better demonstrates human determination than Stormwind. Destroyed during the Horde's initial invasion of Azeroth, Stormwind was painstakingly reconstructed by the Stonemasons' Guild after the Second War. From the magnificent Cathedral of Light, which serves as a major spiritual hub, to the awe-inspiring Valley of Heroes, which commemorates the sacrifices of Stormwind's loyal champions, the city truly represents the courageous heart of humanity.

Government

Hereditary monarchy - King Varian Wrynn; Crown Prince Anduin Wrynn   The king acts as the executive, legislature, and judicial leader, while the noble houses influence the monarch to further they own agendas.

Defences

Stormwind is protected by land via multiple gate houses, choke points, and keeps. The canals and bridges limit an invading armies size advantage, and the gate houses, high walls, and large towers protecting access into each district create multiple fall back points for a defending army. All of this is engineered to wear out an invading army long enough for the defender's reinforcements to arrive.

Industry & Trade

In the Trade District, shops of every profession can be found producing and selling there wares. Multiple inns and taverns provide lodging for traveling merchants who can sell their goods to shops, set up stalls for passersby, or put their items up in the auction house. In the Mage Quarter, talented spellcasters weave magic into scrolls, wands, potions, and more. Items are infused with power, and mages sell their spellcasting services to the rich. In the Dwarven District, a thick smog fills the air as skilled artisans toil away shaping metal in their massive forges. The harbor sees heavy traffic of trading and passenger ships.   Stormwind's chief exports are pumpkins, wine, weapons and armor, lumber, and horses. Its chief imports are raw metals, wheat, textiles, and spices.

Infrastructure

Stormwind has the largest port in Azeroth, the largest prison complex known as the Stockades, a station for the Deep Run Tram, and an extensive sewer network.

Assets

Between the Trade District, Mage Quarter, and Dwarven District, Stormwind can produce, buy, and sell just about any common or uncommon item, a most rare ones too.

History

Stormwind was founded 1,200 years before the First War. During the First War it was sieged twice, managing to survive the first siege and falling to the second. Following the Horde's defeat at the end of the Second War, Stormwind was reclaimed and rebuilt by the Stonemason guild, contracted by the noble families. Payment disputes, long hours, and demands from the nobles lead to the Stonemason Riots, during which King Varian Wrynn's wife, Queen Tiffin Ellerian Wrynn, was killed. King Varian swore the Stonemasons would be brought to a swift and fierce justice, and the majority of the guild fled to Westfall and went into hiding, later reemerging as the Defias Brotherhood.

Architecture

Stormwind's buildings are built in the typical human style; white or grey stones used for the base and half of the first floor, and wood used for the remainder of the building, with wooden floors. The rooftops of the buildings are painted to match the color scheme for the district they are in; blue for the Trade District, purple for the Mage Quarters and park, yellow for the Dwarven District, red for Old Town, and teal for the Cathedral Square.

Geography

Stromwind is nestled at the top of a hill between mountains to the north, forests to the east and south, and the ocean to the west. A river runs down from the mountains through the cities extensive sewers and canal network, before finally returning to its natural path out into Elwynn Forest.

Natural Resources

Elwynn Forest is rich in good timber, fertile fields for growing pumpkins and grapes, raising pigs and sheep, and its hills hold bounties of gold ore. The sea to its west is bountiful in fish, and the city has access to fresh water rivers flowing down from the north.
