Gnome

Though small in stature, the clever gnomes of Khaz Modan have used their great intellect to secure a place in history. Their subterranean kingdom of Gnomeregan is a marvel of steam-driven technology, and their skill at both engineering and the arcane arts has been a tremendous benefit to the Alliance across numerous campaigns.

Gnome Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence increases by 2, and your Dexterity increases by 1.

Age. Gnomes mature slightly faster than humans and are considered adults at age 16. They tend to live on average for 200 years.

Alignment. Gnomes are very creative, many plagued with genius, and find conforming to social norms unappealing leading many to be chaotic. Their hearts are in the right place, however, and most also tend to be good as well.

Size. Gnomes stand at 3 feet tall on average, and weigh 40 to 50 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed. Gnomes are quick and swift for their size, and your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Cantrip. You know one cantrip of your choice from the mage spell list. Intelligence is your spellcasting attribute for it.

Darkvision. Accustomed to life underground, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Engineering Experts. You are proficient in the Technology skill and with Engineer’s Tools.

Escape Artist. You have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks to avoid being grappled, and have advantage on saving throws to resist being restrained.

Expansive Mind. Your mind is open to all the possibilities. Your pool of mana points increases equal to your Intelligence modifier.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Gnomish. You know additional standard languages (see Chapter 4 for the list of languages) equal to your Intelligence modifier, minimum 0.
