Genasi - Elemental Folk

The Genasi, also called the Elemental Folk, are a race of people who have been discriminated against due to their heritage.
During its creation, the Material Plane was too close to the Elemental Plane, leading to rifts opening and ripping open the veil between the two. An influx of elementals came through and many would see the people of the material plane as weaker, lesser than they are. A war broke out between the two planes, and the elementals were stronger. The Archfey were created to try to keep the peace before Faius and Azara left, but the fighting got worse. The Elementals sided with the Unseelie court because they wanted to rule over the multiplanes, whereas the Seelie court saw a potential in the inhabitants of the Material Plane, so they wanted to protect the mortals.
The war lasted 200+ years and ended in many casualties on both sides.
This is not to say that all Elementals were hunting the mortals. Some found love and a home with them, starting families that had traits from both lineages. Once the planes shifted, those with these traits were discriminated against and ostracized, due to no fault of their own. Most bloodlines have some elemental in their lineage, dating back several hundred years.
Due to this discrimination and ostracization, many Genasi have migrated to the Feywilds, spending the weeks leading up to Fey Day, moving their belongings to the locations closest to the portals so they can have a smooth emigration. Amongst those in the Feywilds, the Elemental folk have found acceptance and peace, some even moving back to the material plane with an understanding of who they are and how to stand up for themselves and their families when they face hardships. Most Genasi now work in fields such as magical research, and one is a high leader in MIPA.
