Beasts
Spiritual creations born from a human soul which takes on various, usually animal-like, forms. A Beast cannot produce Mani and must obtain it from an appropriate source, typically a Human or Seer, by ambiently absorbing it, consuming the producer, or partnering with it via Contract.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
Beasts are born from The Fissure, spawned out of the souls, both old and new, of humanity and cannot reproduce. There is very little known about how long it takes to create a Beast from a particular soul, if there is any relationship between a soul and the form a Beast takes, and how (or why) The Fissure creates Beasts in the first place.
Growth Rate & Stages
Development and growth is dependent on subspecies and type.
Ecology and Habitats
Beasts live in any environment, globally, though they concentrate near The Fissure's current location where they are born. As they disperse from this point they become less and less frequent, though often stronger Beasts will venture far from their birthplace in search of food.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Beasts must absorb Mani in order to survive, replacing any other needs for food or water as they are spiritual creatures. The method of feeding alters the Beast and classifies it as one of its sub-species, thus feeding is detailed under each appropriate sub-species.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Beasts have all the sensory abilities of a human, exceptions given if their form enables them to possess new ones or restricts old ones, and interpret that stimuli in a fashion identical to humans when applicable. They each possess some magical abilities, depending on their type, and are usually supernaturally strong, fast, and durable to the point that a normal human cannot expect to defeat a Beast one-on-one even properly armed and equipped.
