The Whaleguard

The Whaleguard are an elite guild in Axordia, with operatives across the world. They are tasked with the conservation, training and protection of the elemental whales that roam the world, an integral part of the world's travel and environmental wellbeing.
Consisting of a membership of beastmasters, druids and other warriors, adventurers, and defenders of the natural world, the Whaleguard are in charge of both monitoring the whales in the wild, but also working with them in interaction with the citizens of the world.
Elemental whales such as hydrowhales and aerowhales are integral to Axordia's infrastructure and travel. As such, small teams of the Whaleguard are assigned to whales who carry out such tasks in order to ensure their wellbeing and protection. These teams usually consist of anywhere between three and seven people, with at least one of each of the following: one Animal Speaker, one healer specialised in wildlife care, and one warrior, allowing a vast range of skills to be utilised in order to best ensure the happiness, health and protection of the whales.
Elemental whales living in the wild are monitored by at least one squadron of the Whaleguard stationed within common habitats. More specialised teams are required for rarer whale species that live in harsher or more unique environments, such as the monitoring of frostwhales, minewhales and pyrwhales, all of which are frequently targeted by hunters and poachers for the valuable properties of their skins.
One such specialised group is that of the Silvan Shrikes, and elite squadron led by Captain Kaya Silverthorn, prized student of the head of the Ket'ranian Whaleguard. Officially stationed in the Central Region, this tight-knight team executes patrols, explorations and investigations all over Axordia, not only learning more about the elemental whales, but being able to find new ways to work with them and protect them, forging a deeper bond with these ancient creatures.

Culture

The Whaleguard's core value is protection and preservation, as shown through their motto. They intend beyond all other goals to preserve the lives of the elemental whales, and work alongside them to continue the exceptional means of transport and resource gathering that they have found.
