Drifting Archipelagos

The Drifting Archipelagos is the collective name for the collections of islands and settlements that have been established atop frequently moving islewhale pods. These islewhales swim in the oceans and seas of Axordia, moving at a very slow pace. As such, and thanks to the whales' thick skin covered in soil and grass, houses, buildings and farms have been established on the backs of these whales, allowing for civilisations to grow and thrive in such an unusual environment.  It is estimated that at least fifteen of these drifting archipelagos are inhabited, at least within the range of Ket'rani's bordering oceans. Many of these islewhaled remain unpopulated however, instead growing forests and developing oases and wells of strong elemental magic atop their backs. As well as this, some islewhales have been discovered with ruined buildings or temples atop their backs, implying that civilisations such as the Drifting Archipelagos have been around for hundreds of years, for the buildings to reach the state of ruin they are in.
