Haeldrom
Overview
Haeldrom is a mining town that is located just to the west of Riordel and provides the city with most of its metals and ores. Whilst only being a small town, its contribution to the kingdom of Valen and now the Kingdom of Igrahne-Valen has been insurmountable.
Government
Haeldrom falls under all the laws seen in Riordel and the rest of theKingdom of Igrahne-Valen. Within the town, the highest position falls to the Overseer who governs small issues and any smaller mining-related issues. Larger crimes and issues are sent to the higher-ups within the city of Riordel.
Defences
Haeldrom whilst being a small town can not be taken easily. The town is backed up onto the endless peaks where multiple mines run deep. The whole settlement is located on a hill providing defenders with a high ground advantage. The mines themselves are a maze known only to the miners and have several choke points and easily collapsible segments to block intruders as the population make an escape through exits into the endless peaks mountain range.
Industry & Trade
The population of Haeldrom are either miners, Guards, or the family of miners who have taken up roles such as tavern owners and shopkeeps to keep the settlement running. Most of the population belong to a middle-class society. The city's only exports are various metals and minerals provided by the mines that get taken straight to Riordel. All food and drink get imported from the city as Haeldrom has no farms or breweries.
History
During the War between the Kingdom of Ighrane and the Kingdom of Valen before their joining into a dual monarchy, Valen could not meet up its demands for metal to craft weapons, armour, and siege machines. To counteract this they set up multiple mining settlements backing onto the endless peaks to provide a fresh influx of the materials needed to fight.
