Why aren't there guns?

Basically, long-range magic and magically enhanced weapons were just much more effective than primitive gun technology. As a result, gunpowder and gun technology, in general, was neglected in favour of other methods of violence.

Can there be crossbreeding between the 5 sentient species?

No.

Are there beastioids with aquatic features?

Probably. But they are rare enough to not really matter in the grand scheme of things. The seas still belong to the sirens.

Why are there square brackets where there probably shouldn't be?

Those are for my reference. They either indicate a placeholder name or something that I will link at a later date. Don't mind them and move along.
