Monoliths

These beings are so slow and steady, that for a time they were considered non-sentient. However, for all their apathy, they do in fact consider the world around them.   Sighting and recognising monoliths is rare. As such, there is not a concrete answer as to how long they live. However, it wouldn't be surprising to discover that they are in fact immortal.   As they are so isolated and masked, it is difficult to determine the motivations of monoliths. The only times they have taken action were when actively disturbed; they seem more than happy to simply live their lives in peace.

Basic Information

Anatomy

These lumbering giants appear as blocky pillars of ancient stone, arranged somewhat to form a humanoid or otherwise quadrupedal shape. When first meeting them, one often struggles to make out a face, further adding to their odd, unreadable nature.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Monoliths can be found almost exclusively in the northern mountains of Ether's Peaks, particularly around the foot of Venn.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

If a monolith is idle enough, small creatures and plants may take up refuge in its crevices. They seldom mind, and continue on their way as they otherwise would.
Lifespan
Most likely forever.
Average Height
3-5 metres
Average Weight
Several tonnes.
Average Physique
Monoliths appear intimidating in their build, and rightly so. These beings are easily capable of hurling over half their weight in stone; should they choose to, they could terraform the countryside to their liking.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
From place to place, the colouration and texture of the stone that makes up each monolith may differ. However, they commonly match their surroundings.   Often each monolith will bear some mark of wear or damage to its rocky skin. Likely the result of some long-gone conflict with a forgotten tale.
