1.10 - The Wave

General Summary

The session started in The Den, one of the safe houses of the Pale Dogs, a small time gang that had a boost in foreign membership as of late. The crew makes their entrance and discovers a large collection of Kobold are there on the first floor, operating various small time criminal activities like gambling, pawn shops, and bookkeeping. On the discovery of the party, an alarm sounded and a flood of kobolds approached from two directions. In hindsight, it seems this building was specially designed to thwart an attack from the entrance. The Wave was on! Early on a Kobold Inventor threw a nest of wasps at Zizkek. But He responded with thunderwave, driving back friend and foe. But his followup was fire, his true medium, and burned them then sealed the doorway with flame. But not before a few more kobolds make it out. A Dragonshield arrived to fight with Liam and the Bad Idea’s retreated into the main hall where more kobolds arrived from the south. A Classic Pincer move. It looked like the group might be forced out the door! A more wasps were thrown as well as a skunk. Sir Tomlin did his best to hold back the horde but lucky blows brought him to his knees. It looked hopeless. And then, in the face of total defeat, the team rallied. They began working as a team again, covering each other’s flanks, and using their abilities in tandem. Dockshay inspired Zizkek who did another thunderwave to greater effect. Faezyre stabbed and faded. Liam stood toe to toe with his mark. Even Tol got in a catapulted shot for once. The tide turned.   Now the Kobolds were on the retreat back into their lair. The Bad Ideas followed. Busting down the door, Sir Tomlin narrowly avoided a Chromatic Orb, but was charmed into fighting his friends. Zizkek used a line of fire to burn many kobolds while Fae, dockshay, and Liam took out their own foes. Dalander rebuked a kobold back to hell and tol hit another kobold with a candle. Soon the wave of kobolds had receeded and there was only mopping up to do. All that was left was one kobold, quickly dispatched despite the pleas for a prisoner.   And so the players have learned that their characters are much more powerful as a team then ever as individual members. and that the DM will throw very challenging fights at them to bring out the best of their respective powers and creative ideas.
