1.08 - The Black Rose List

General Summary

The night started with the party leaving the Copper Mug and following the signs left by Neckbreaker. Faezyre took an unexpected lead in the search, to the surprise of others who asked ‘who is this girl?’. She lead the team to The Rat’s Nest’, a hovel within the slums of the Warrens. Once inside the border of the Nest, Fae noticed something was amiss and sent Shay and Tol ahead alone. Dokshay and Tol’etherin were perfect bait for the ambush ahead, which they triggered unknowingly. The two were swarmed by children who themselves were a distraction for an attempted pickpocket named willam. However, both the childred and the pickpocket were distractions for the real event, as three members of the Longfingers, a local thieves guild, approached.
The lead of the team, Jonas, tells Tol that they are expected. Dokshay attempts to make friends with him forcefully, but the man resists and orders his henchman to guard against another such attempt. ‘Keep moving, or I order the crowd to tear you apart’ he says. And so they do, having been seemingly left by Fae to their new fate. They are lead to a Red door in a shack at the end of an ally.
Meanwhile Zizkek and Fae make there way in stealth to the same location. Ziz finds the place guarded by an odd sentry. Fae hides and waits.
Inside, Shay and Tol are introduced to Erik Samuels, leader of the Warren branch of the Longfingers. He claims to have been hired by Dr Dribbles to look out for you. Jonas explains that you had a ‘lease’ on you from the Pale Dogs and that had they not grabbed you from the street you would have been janked into their Den in chains.
Mr Samuels goes on to explain the following, once the party is whole again.
The Pale dogs had a management change recently that scares him. Even his own men of many are turning on him. The Pale dogs have been ‘outsourcing’ their gang growth by the boat loads. Strange creatures, beasts, and foreign races are flooding into the Warrens. Neckbreaker is staying in the Den. Samuels has an inside man who he can put you in contact with. The Blackwaters are a powerful family in the Warrens. Their help in this plague has been strange so he had one of the dead examined The poor person died of starvation even though their belly was full of food The body seemingly walked away on its own The chef of the Copper Mug was talented and the food was excellent. All changed the day the plague started. Everyone in the place got sick and one died on the spot. Gordon left in a hurry. Gordon showed up a few days later to talk with Samuels about a Black Rose List. Resurrection is forbidden by both law and ritual tattooing. This is in accordance with a peace treaty between the lower class and upper class Any who find a way to circumvent the restriction can create a Black Rose list of people who are willing to pay the money and risk the imperial inquiry to bring someone back. There is insanely good money in the risk, but the risk is also insane. Samuel turned him away, but had him trailed. He didn’t believe Gordon’s claims but wanted to know more. His people lost him, though he suspect he had help. Either Pale Dogs or the Blackwaters are the logical next step for him.
The current plan of the group is to do the following
Talk with Samuels’ man inside on the Pale Dogs Hunt down Neckbreaker and finish the job Extract info from Neckbreaker on the location of Gordon and his connection to Pale Dogs and Blackwater.
