1.03 - The Curio Shop

General Summary

The gang wakes up in the morning in the Troubadour. They gather for breakfast and decide to open the chest in the basement first, after learning that Fae ‘found’ a key in the sewer, making a total of 6. On gathering at the chest and turning each key in unison, the chest opened to reveal a collection of items.   First, there was one item from each party member that they lost a year ago [each player picked something themselves].   Second there was a gold pocket watch with a strange face.   Third there was a note from a Yabeua directing the group to use the watch to open a vault located at an address on Sunrise street.   Lastly, there was a deed to the Troubadour, already signed 6 times, once by each member of the party. Each of you now owned o 1/6th of the tavern.   After this revelation, the group decides to followup on the note from Yabuea on the Keepers by following the address in the note to Sunrise street.   While on their way, Fae discovers that the group is being followed. They decide to hang back at a tea shop across from the locaiton and wait. The tail eventually makes his move to head to the door when they realize it is Dr Dribbles. Dribbles tells them he was just worried and the party sends him back to the Troubadour.   The party now enters the door and finds a long abandoned shop with junk on the shelves. However, when Liam uses the watch to look at a reflection, he sees a beautiful curio shop as well as a hidden door. The party open the door and decent into the sub cellar.   Down here they find a simple room with a spinning object in its center. Once more Liam uses the watch to slow time long enough to see a door. He opens it and the rest of the party now see it as well.   Through the door they find themselves in a vault with boxes of objects. The boxes are sealed. A large book is on a pedestal but Tol cannot read it.   At this moment Dr Dribbles enters and explains that he is a curator of this vault and that the party has been gathered to be Cursewarden. With Dribble’s help, Tol reads the intro page of the book to the group…   FROM THE PAGES OF THE BOOK OF MISFORTUNE   History of the Cursewarden   As few but the Cursewarden know, In 58 AP [~7,530 years ago] a nameless god from a distant land in a forgotten world crossed the Ether Sea at great cost to reach the shores of Ptolus, the City at the Center. There, the divine reached deep within itself and took its own life. The Aons looked on and did nothing.   It is only now clear that with this god came the seed of the Calamity, which burst forth from the now dead god to fall on the unsuspecting and ill prepared population.   Lectures on the nature of the Calamity are beyond the scope of this treaty, but suffice it to say that something much more powerful than a God was born that day to the bane of all who live here. We scholars of Chaos now know that the Calamity is an ever present force, like magic or nature, that cannot ever be truly destroyed or removed from this land. And so our recourse as Cursewarden is to stop the Calamity by stopping its effects, one item at a time. That is a Cursewarden’s charge.   New Cursewarden   You are tasked with finding and removing cursed items from Ptolus. This book is magically imbued to record the new creation and location of any items that have been recently touched by the Calamity. You are to track down these items of power and destruction, for the good of all who live in this city. Once tracked, you are to return the item to our vault, ever to stay hidden and never to be trusted in the hands of a non Cursewarden again.   Yours is a charge non else can ever know about. Ptolus remains safe in its ignorance of the greater dangers around them.   The Troubadour and the Curio Shop are yours as recompense for the heavy task that has fallen upon you. Use them to your own needs as you see fit.   We salute you,   -The First
