High mage

The high mages are the eight most important professors at Allara, one for each type of magic. They manage the college together and teach the advanced students in their field. They are also responsible for the financial security and student intake of the college, as well as keeping track of progress on magical knowledge to make sure the college doesn't become obsolete. New High mages are chosen in most cases by a high mage naming a successor, but otherwise by the remaining high mages. The job requires a recognition of mastery of the specialized field by the mages community, but personality is often taken into account as well.
