The plant, similar to common legumes and widely referred to in the common tongue as "seeds" is the primary form of sustenance for many communities around Avan'ur. It can be prepared various ways, is commonly stewed in boiling liquid, and due to meticulous and genius cross breeding, covers most nutritional needs. In some areas of Avan'ur, outside of the Homelands, seeds are even used as currency. The organizations that grow seeds are widely respected and held somewhat sacred - kings, paupers, and thieves alike all recognize that the world ends without seeds.

Anatomy

Seeds are somewhat large beans - while they vary slightly in shape and coloration, they are most commonly black or brown and approximately 1 inch lengthwise.

Growth Rate & Stages

Seeds take approximately 3 months to grow and mature. They can be grown and harvest year round, but harvests are no as plentiful during dry and cold seasons. During harvesting, the entire plant is put to use.

Ecology and Habitats

Seeds can be grown in a fair amount of climates and environments due to clever engineering, but they grow most effectively in areas with heavy rain.

The plant has been around as long as records exist, while it was always widely used in the Past Age, it has become essential for civilization.

Conservation Status

Seed farms are some of the most intensely protected areas in Avan'ur. Growing seeds requires a great deal of focus and resources from the groups that run the farms, and they employ some of the most dangerous mercenaries to safeguard their product. The Guardians of the Homeland supplement the protection of farms, but primarily provide operational and scientific expertise to ensure optimal growth.
