The Infamous Crew Of The Silver Serpent

Write about a famous ship crew. Who are they and why are they famous?   Oftentimes the name alone is enough to put trade companies off of certain routes or ships. The Silver Serpent, captained by none other than Wyler Zeddicus whose meteoric rise to fame was known throughout the lands.   In a time when the Ethildain Lords held almost all of the seas surrounding Avalos in their grasp, taxing and often outright stealing from competitors and people who may have offended them. Wyler and his crew, who started as Ethildain naval crew themselves, mutinied and stole their vessel. The Silver Serpent, a brand new Ethildain galleon. Over a dozen cannons, three sails, cargo space and trimmed in real silver to boot. Wyler often referred to by merchants as the Snake of The Sea and his crew began what is widely considered to be the first acts of organized piracy in Avalos.   Despite being young and inexperienced, whether through dumb luck or a modicum of inherent talent, Zeddicus and his crew managed to evade Ethildain capture for years. During this time they were known to waylay merchant ships and either steal their cargo or the vessel and sometimes even the crew.   Zeddicus became the leader of a de facto Pirate army, his organization stretching far and wide with pirate sanctuaries being constructed on small remote islands, though as a rule many were restricted to floating cities of tied together vessels. The design was created this way to ensure safety should Ethildor learn of a sanctuaries location. They would simply untie and sail away, transmitting their new location through a network of underground spies and dock workers.   Wyler himself often disdained these sanctuaries and spent most of his time sailing on his own or with a small support fleet. Despite being the most wanted individual in Ethildor, Zeddicus managed to operate unchallenged for many years and when the serpent eventually vanished and its crew along with it. He had left behind a legacy that all other pirates would tell stories of in the taverns on the docks.
