Subutai Taizu-Temujin

Subutai Taizu-Temujin

After escaping an illness that wiped out most of her tribe, Subutai took to a life of adventuring

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

tall as hell, very muscular

Body Features

built for battle, black tattoo-like markings all over

Facial Features

pale blue eyes, dark brown hair that's braided back into dreads, sides of head shaved

Identifying Characteristics

large glaive with a hook on the blunt end, markings

Physical quirks

loud, bellowing laugh

Apparel & Accessories

plain pants and sleeveless shirt made of leather hides, big boots, belt with pouches

Specialized Equipment

glaive has a shepherd's hook attached to the blunt end, handle is decorated with carvings

Mental characteristics

Personal history

a bit of an outcast from her tribe because her markings were seen as an ill omen, Subutai was given the job of Flock Keeper, tending to the wandering herd of mountain sheep that kept the tribe fed and clothed. She still fought and competed when she could, and was skilled with her combination glaive/shepherd's crook. During a time when she was away tending the flock, a mysterious illness fell upon the tribe, killing most of them. She returned to find the stragglers making ready to leave to join a neighboring tribe, and while she did think of joining them, Subutai ultimately decided to relinquish her flock to the survivors and make her way into the world. She first stopped at a small village at the base of the mountains, where she gave aid and was given the title Ogre's Bane. The people, grateful to her, paid her what they could of their gold and also supplied her for her journey.

Gender Identity

female, but really gender-nonconforming, no shits given about this kind of thing, never a big concern in her society

Sexuality

Pan, doesn't give a shit as long you're not an asshole, gotta be stimulating, like don't be a pushover

Education

little to no formal education outside of reading and writing, fair martial education

Employment

some mercenary work, mostly bodyguarding stuff, and odd-jobs

Accomplishments & Achievements

killed an ogre that had been plaguing a small mountain town, earning the name "Ogre's Bane"

Failures & Embarrassments

stuck her hand in a beholder statue and got it cut off at the wrist, though it was able to be healed

Mental Trauma

does have some feelings about being ostracized by her tribe, but nothing she's willing to talk about since most of them are dead, like "don't speak ill" and all, and also has a little bit of survivors guilt but again, not enough to want to talk about it

Intellectual Characteristics

smart about animals and animal behavior? does that count? smart about fighting?   After a body-swapping incident with a wizard, was bitten by the learning bug and desired to improve herself through knowledge

Morality & Philosophy

Lawful Neutral, and whatever. don't be an asshole, play fair, etc. her philosophy is that people and animals are similar, they (mostly) have the same motivations, and the ones that don't are the ones to watch for. like, people that are motivated by material wealth and shit are sketch, but people that are motivated by family, food, shelter, all that Maslow's hierarchy of needs kind of stuff, those people are understandable and relatable. and to a lesser extent, life is a big competition to be your best self, so give your all in everything you do

Taboos

being a pushover, being a coward when being challenged (but also situational bc battle strategy sometimes requires retreat)

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

being her best self, life is a competition between your past and future self, so your present self must always give it's all

Likes & Dislikes

likes: animals, friendly people, fair fights, challenges, her glaive, equity   dislikes: unequal fights, like when someone is obviously stronger and being a dick to someone weaker, when people fuck with animals or friends, unprovoked violence outside of friendly sparring

Virtues & Personality perks

real friendly, will absolutely throw down for a friend,

Vices & Personality flaws

loud, doesn't know about society outside of the tribe so can very easily offend or make a fool of herself

Personality Quirks

will relate a situation to her time as a shepherd, and will act accordingly

Hygiene

moderately clean, not afraid to get dirty and bathe in a river, cold doesn't bother so there's no excuse not to bathe, also equipment lasts longer when it is maintained, same with the body

Goliath Fighter/Barbarian, always down for a fight

...

It was a hard battle. The adventure started out fine, we went to the swamp and discovered an old mine crawling with undead and started clearing it out. Jamison, Anne, Artio, and I worked well as a team, we each have our strengths and they all go together nicely. We destroyed two powerful enemies fairly quickly, and I think that made us cocky. We entered the deepest portion of the mine and found an enemy that was too much for us to handle. He could speak into our minds, and showed all but Artio their deepest fears. He knew about my tribe. For half the battle he struck fear into my heart with magic, but even after I shook it off I could barely land a hit on him. He was torturing Jamison and Anne and all I could do was run away. I don't know how I can call myself a warrior when I could do nothing to protect my friends. Artio was able to damage him enough to drive him away without any death, but the battle took it's toll in our minds. I swear, if I ever meet that demon again I'll strike him down with everything I have.

The Minotaur

we started travelling along the coast first, and saw what looked like a huge skull traveling in the water. We were going to follow it, but it outpaced us, and we weren't sure what it was so we didn't want to go in unprepared. A little ways down the coast though, we discovered what we think it the pirate One-Eye's hideaway. We cut inland then, to seek out the Minotaur. We got attacked by the Manticore, but took it down easily enough. Next we were attacked by goblins, but those were so easy that we didn't even break a sweat. After the goblins, we camped for the night and were visited by a mysterious little person that talked to Krol about receiving some art from the Minotaurs lair. We continued on the next morning, and came to Nash's Burrow, but there had been a maze of trees erected before it. We were in the maze when the Minotaur started knocking over trees to try and separate us. We ended up able to join back up with each other to fight the Minotaur, and took care of it relatively easily, aside from the hit I took. Dear Jamison had given me a charm before we left and I really do think it helped. I think that's the heaviest single hit I've taken in my time here, and it nearly killed me. But I think that Ilmater was watching over me in Jamison's stead. Maybe even Nash too, though we hadn't met. Anyway, once we defeated the Minotaur, it was fine. We did get attacked by some mushrooms in the lair, but they were easily taken care of. And we met a friend! The little creature Gensik was there, and he decided to come back to town with us! We found the treasure, and gave some to the mysterious little person, but I guess we didn't give them what they specifically wanted because they attacked us! We tried to give them the rest that we had, but they said that we had broken our promise and that they wanted our blood. I don't think they can come out during the day though, because that's when we made out escape. It was fine after that, and we arrived safely back to the town.

The Statues

I can't help but fear them. When we first got attacked by them and Alastor was turned to stone, it struck a deep fear in my heart. He was fine in the end, but I worried for him the entire time. The second time we were attacked I almost fell to them several times, but my friends were able to save me and we defeated them. The third time, we should have been more vigilant. Apollo was trapped in a room with some monster and had to fight it alone until the Captain and I were able to break the door down, but the monster disappeared and Apollo was turned to stone. Egg was able to bring him back, but he had no idea what had attacked him. I felt despair in that place, and great fear, but it only makes me want to know what that creature is so that I might kill it myself. I nearly lost both Alastor and Apollo to these statues, and whatever is creating them is to blame. I don't like the ruins, but they are the key to finding out what I need to know. I think it is only a matter of time until someone else falls to them, and I fear that I won't be around to help.   This factory, or prison, if it were up to me we would knock it to the ground. I can't believe it was made for a good purpose if they were turning children to stone.

The Ruins (pt 1 & 2)

Pt 1 -encountered weird goblin asking for toll, threatened it, got trapped in force bubble for a minute -encountered a werewolf, immune to all non-magical attack, glaive and unarmed attacks useless, could only grapple -made it to ruins, attacked by ghouls in the night, took some rib bones from one to carve -started toward the ruins, stepped on stone that transported us to a different tower -the tower was full of stuff, accidentally set off cloud of noxious gas, then party set off door trap that awoke dust monsters, fought them and won, continued exploring -Kirth tried to open a trunk but a huge demon appeared and told us to leave, we did, but Kirth discovered that the demon was an illusion, we went back and the trunk was full of money and components, and an unidentified potion -left the tower, tried to go to another ruin but got transported to an arch that was also a portal -Kirth sent his owl familiar through and when he safely came back, Kirth lied to the party about a knoll attack and went through the portal himself, we all ran through and saw an inhabited castle to be explored later
  • we tried to head to a different ruin but were stuck in space, we were moving forward away from the arch but getting no closer to our destination, and the sun hadn't moved in the sky in 8 hrs, we decided to camp
  • the book we took from the tower was about the First Netheresian War, and the notes were battle strategies
  • we were able to make it into another ruin, but as we were exploring we were attacked by statues
  • I was felled twice, but my friends risked their lives to save me each time
  • -we eventually defeated the statues, and hunted for treasure in the ruin, and we found a lot
  • afterward, we went home
  • Pt 2
  • ventured downriver, camped and got attacked by these weird creatures that were whispering Jamison's name, beat them easily
  • got to the forest and encountered green and blue and purple mist that was antigravity, able to cling to branches and move back down to the ground and continued by grabbing things, eventually got out of the mist
  • camped in a ruin, Alastor discovered three humanoids in the ruin and offered them food. they snatched the food and fled, leaving the floors covered in goop
  • continued on our way and eventually neared the ruins, coming to the same hill that we had once been attacked by statues on
  • we camped nearby and found a ruin nearby, which contained these terrible shrieking ghosts. There were so many of them that we had to flee. They had a master, but any damage we did to him was so trivial that he paid it no mind. The ghosts wouldn't go far past the room, so we returned to explore the rest of the ruin
  • in one room, there was a chest that no one could open so I broke it open, the potions inside broke and mixed and summoned a demon, who wanted to kill us
  • the ghosts heard the commotion and attacked the demon, so we escaped, Professor Pollando and Apollo stealing both the staff and orb from the ghost master
  • we left that ruin and camped at a shrine of the goddess Mystrl, where Alastor uncovered a portal to a different shrine
  • we went back to the original shrine to get Egg, and when we arrived back the ruined shrine was no longer ruined
  • we went back to the first shrine again and went on our way
  • -much like the first time i had been to the ruin, we stepped on stone and were transported to another tower
  • this tower was far worse, it was filled with statues of screaming people, who we found out were prisoners that had committed crimes
  • I can't imagine what kind of crime is punishable by being turned to stone, but I don't think it a punishment fitting the crime
  • there were crates that were full of these statues, and some of them were children
  • we nearly lost Apollo, he went into a room and it trapped him and something attacked, nearly turning him to stone before I could break down the door
  • he was turning when I took him out, and Egg restored him to life
  • we quickly found a way out afterward, and on the way back to town we made peace with the frog people that had attacked us before
  • The Hunting Trip

It went well enough in the beginning. We encountered several enemies but were able to dispatch them quickly enough. Alastor's gravity spells would often gravely wound a group of enemies before any of us could even touch them, and Apollo was always so quick to get into the fray to finish the work. I had my fair share of strikes with both my bow and my glaive, and the others also did much damage. We encountered a group of goblins that were eating horses, and we rescued three to bring to town. After we slew many of them, we found their children in a cave. We thought of taking them to town as well, but heard their clan sneaking about the woods, so we left them behind. It was only once we reached the forest that things took a turn. Not knowing what it was aside that it was harming friend Egg, I cut down a psuedodragon. I still feel the shame of it days later. And it got worse when we spotted the dragon. I've heard tales of dragons since I was a child. My tribe had encountered small ones, wyrms and drakes and such, but this was bigger than any I'd ever seen. We didn't fear much, but we had a healthy fear of dragons.... we would always keep our distance if we could. When the party spotted it, we were all struck still in terror. It paid us no mind as we scattered for cover. We only saw it the once, but that was enough. We had long since gotten enough meat and hides when we decided to explore the ruins. Before we did any delving though, we rested for the night on the top of a hill. Apollo was the one to spot them. If not for his early warning and Kirth's dust of invisibility, we would have all parished. But, it did not just end in our escape. While making his escape, Alastor was struck by one of these statues. Wizards are not known for their constitution, and he was felled, slowly dying and turning to stone, all while completely invisible. The first opportunity I had, I ran to where I thought he was. Egg was there and healed him, and I picked up his petrified body. I couldn't carry him and my pack, so I left it behind. We all made our escape from there. I carried him for a full day before he became unpetrified. I must say that I was overjoyed that my friend was still alive. If no one goes to those ruins again, I will still feel that joy. The trip back from there was none too pleasant either. We built a raft to go by the river, and were attacked by creatures in a fortress. They injured all of us, the first time during the whole trip that I was struck. It made me so angry that I ripped the javelin out of my body and hurled it at my attacker. The others followed suite in fighting back, but the river bore us away before we could do much damage though. We decided to sleep on the raft, and that proved to be the most unpleasant sleep. We made it back to Last Hope safely, but I am so tired.

    The Fortune

“Seek yee to the city under the tiny sea, there you will find medicines three. The first will cure the darkness that took your tribe. It’s closer than you think. The second will bring a man or maid back to life if given in time. The third is hidden even to me.” I don't like this. I haven't told many of the illness that felled my tribe, and the Captain said that the witch was a liar, but how would she know? But that aside, I am curious about this medicine. The tiny sea must be the salty lake, but how is there a city under the waves? How would I get to that city without drowning? I have many things to think about.

    A New Adventure

Met some new friends! There are many of them, and more are being made each day. Went on an adventure beyond the town with some of them. It was Captain Oryx, Ciddium, Apollo, Krol, and Jonah. About half-a-days walk outside of town, we were attacked by colorful flying snakes. Cid was the only one hurt, but he survived. Next Captain, Cid, Apollo, and Jonah were attacked by tiny tree people. I shot one and the others dispatched the rest. Krol spotted a cave, but we didn't explore it. We camped for the night, and I cooked a snake with some berries that Krol found. He got sick later, but I felt fine? When we finally got to the lake, it was saltwater. The Captain dove right in, but I don't trust it. How can there be a salt water lake in the middle of land? The lake was beautiful though, unnaturally beautiful. I've never seen a lake like this in my homeland. The water was so blue, and the beach was made of colorful rocks. I don't trust it, but there's good salt. Jonah found a small fresh-water pond, but there were giant fish in it. We killed one, but as I was dragging it out of the pond, another attacked. It swallowed me, but let go and I swam for the surface. Cid stuck his quarterstaff into the water and lifted me out. The fish stopped attacking, and we got the other one out of the pond. There was so much fish to eat. I took as much as I could to bring back to Last Hope. In the night, someone had slashed our water skins, but we continued on anyway. We met a crazy old man, and Apollo and Captain gave him their water. I didn't trust him. I've heard tales of Fae that disguise themselves and try to steal your name and control you. Only Apollo gave his name. We didn't get attacked again, but when I was on watch a tiny injured man came to our camp. I didn't like him. He made demands after we helped him. Captain insisted he pay us for our trouble and I agreed, but the others didn't. When I carried the tiny man back to town, he kicked at me like a little lamb. If he wasn't so annoying, I would think it was cute. He paid when we got back to town, and so the adventure ended.
