Nilbogism

Nilbogism is a one-of-a-kind disease that only exists in one person: the Nilbog, a strange anomaly of a magical being that can invert the rules of space and time. Nilbogism is a disease that increases charisma and causes strange fluctuations to happen around the infected being like damage being turned into health or the aging process to function but in reverse. The charismatic increase that comes with Nilbogism isn't proven to be connected with the strange fluctuations that accompany the afflicted Nilbog but instead act a secondary charm that protects the Nilbog as some form of supposed divine intervention.   When a goblin is turned into the Nilbog, it gains spellcasting abilities that focus on charming others and making people bend to the Nilbog's will. This feeds into the Nilbog's will to be praised by all constantly, if it doesn't have its needs met then it will start wreaking havoc. This makes Nilbogs very difficult to deal with.

Transmission & Vectors

It is said that when the Nilbog dies, the Nilbog spirit possesses a different goblin that becomes the new Nilbog. It is unknown how the spirit finds its new host and is even unknown if a new host can be chosen before the Nilbog's death. It is theorized that the Nilbog's spirit is sentient after death and picks a new host from the ethereal plane

Causes

The beginning of this condition is entirely unknown either in location or time. The Nilbog claims that the location and time are "somewhen in the future" and that it has already lived through it's destruction awaiting its birth. It's theorized that if we knew how the Nilbog was created we would know alot more about the universe at large.

Symptoms

A goblin afflicted with Nilbogism will talk in opposites and seek nothing more in life than praise and approval and will seem to gain strange reversal powers that can convert damage to health and can cause it to age backwards. It's unknown how much of the Nilbog's personality is due to the specific entity or due to the disease afflicting it.

Treatment

It is supposed that Nilbogism is incurable if the Nilbog isn't willing to be cured. The only way to possibly cure the Nilbog is through means of a wish spell but even that might not work with its strange magic.

Hosts & Carriers

The Nilbog is the only carrier of Nilbogism due to the fact that when the Nilbog dies, the next goblin infected becomes the Nilbog again.

Prevention

Nilbogism has never been known to afflict any non-goblin but due to the mystery surrounding its transmission this is unknown whether its due to the Nilbog's personal preference if the spiritual sentience theory is correct or if it is unable to afflict humanoids or even other goblinoids. No Nilbog has ever been spawned very far away from the previous Nilbog's place of death which may mean that it is unable to spread to hosts outside of a certain radius.

History

No one knows how or when Nilbogism started or will end or even how many Nilbogs exist or if the only known one is the last or only of its kind. No wizard has been able to figure out how the Nilbog's magic works and no god has ever been able to replicate it. It is possibly the strangest living enigma to exist.

Cultural Reception

The Nilbog has always been held in high regard and has been considered royalty since the beginning of their entry into society. The Nilbog is possibly the most free being in Ireland and lives outside of the royal families, the courts, and the guilds, yet is still politically powerful enough to be in the Counsel of Falias.
