Continent of Australis

A continent in the southern hemisphere, Australis was originally populated by Galarian prisoners from the First Fleet. Following the partial occupation of Australis during World War Two by Kantonian and Sinnohian forces, Australis became more insular and isolationist. Recently the continent has taken up the Pokemon League, inspired by Galar's successful attempt. As a result, Australis has become a valuable member of the international community, despite its distance from the rest of the world.   Australis is seperated into four territories, marking a difference in landscape and terrain. These are West, Central and East Australis, and the island of Tamar. While West and East Australis are generally well explored, Central Australis' deserts are untamed. Indigenous people have made their camps in the desert, but is considered inhospitable for those without survival knowledge and skills. Tamar is a resort island to the south of the continent, who enjoy tourists to the beaches, resorts, exotic spas and the local Pokemon Gym, whose leader is surrounded in mystery.   Australis has come under international attention due to the recent discovery of Australisian formes of Pokemon who exist in other regions, as well as in Australis themselves. The existence of both base and regional forms in the same area has caused many scientists to visit the continent, eager to determine the reason for these alternate forms. Local Professor Irwin, who is known nationally for his Pokemon conservation, study, and his Australis Safari, claims that he did not know about these forms until recently, causing debate over his capability as a Professor, and whether the existence of these forms have been a recent occurrence or not.
