Aurvandil

Before words were given shape and etched with quill and ink upon parchment, Man cast off the shackles of slavery and tore down the realm of Titans, giants and monsters. They sang of new gods and proclaimed their supremacy, forging a realm of magic, technology and wonder. All treated peacefully, for none could oppose them.   This realm bore the name Aurvandil, and it spanned the known world, giving name to its lands. In their hubris, they sought to etch their fate into the stars themselves and endure into eternity in a sorcerous undertaking of staggering proportion: the Grand Geomancy. Something went awry and the glory of Aurvandil was extinguished in an instant as a wave of chaotic magics rippled outward from its seat of power, plunging the world into a new age of magic, wonder and peril. Dragons, believed to be but creatures of myth have returned to the skies and giants march south from the trackless wastes. Mortals manifest strange, arcane powers and eldritch beings of great power strike bargains and gain emmisaries within the world.   Life endured the catastrophe, and from the ashes, a new world was built though its denizens are forever changed by the powers unleashed.   Bastions of civilization have risen: the freeholds of Tolkath, Thaern and Elyra, and the Empire of the Fivefold which claims inheritance to the throne of old. Old friendships are forgotten and slights are left to fester. Without a unified realm to oppose them, ancient evils stir once more and threaten to extinguish the legacy of Aurvandil.
