The average resident in the city of Aurora

Treehomes are the only type of building in the city of aurora. A typical house is build 50 meters from the forest floor and rather than being build onto the tree as human tree houses are, these structures are held up by the tree, which is coaxed to rap it's great branches around them to hold them up. Some branches going through the house (at least a meter in diameter) are hollowed out so you can climb into them, with a few round windows through the bark which you can peer out. Inside a typical home (for 4 or 5, as Autumns normally have one set of twins or triplets) you have a main living area with 20-30 shimmering glass bubbles called homanats hanging from the ceiling which emit a soft blue glow and help regulate the temperature and quality, each home with its own very mild sent such as lavender or butterscotch. An average living room would be furnished with worn squishy armchairs or some large low hanging hammocks with a low round table which the family would sit on the floor around for meals. Leading up a set of rickety stairs to a split dormers poking out of the the main structure as bedrooms with only enough space for a the mattress. around the house, a few thin branches run from the ceiling to the floor which would have grown after the home was build. These have hollowed out areas and are used as storage spots. All the rooms in the are positioned so that the majority of the day they are flooded with sunlight through the gaps in the leaves and at night you can see the stars. The floors are coated in thick carpets in winter and are soft planks in summer.

Roofs are covered in swirly reflective materials like bent mirrors that reflect the trees around but distort the image helping them to blend into the forest.

History

The houses were raised 6 or 7 centuries ago when the shadow plague was sweeping autumn kinds. The common protection was to avoid contact with the infected and as they could not climb, so some particularly powerful Autumns begged the trees to raise the houses to save the city.
