Auguara

Auguara is a region isolated not only geographically from the rest of the world, but also in magical abilities. The main inhabitants are called mages, beings identical to humans in every way except for their unique capability to use a small subset of magic and their tell-tale eyes that reflect that magic. They have flourished in five separate kingdoms: extravagant Avara in the northwest, natural Moregona in the southwest, bustling Naust in the center, orderly Nemora in the mid east, and innovative Gardiva to the far east. Despite their many differences, the kingdoms remain connected through the mission- a centuries' old tradition of sending children on a coming-of-age volunteer trip to another kingdom.   This custom is a relic of Auguara's former era, where only 7 mages could exist at a time. These 7 mages would travel the region and assist towns in solving problems (although they were generally compensated for their efforts unlike children today). But when one of those mages, Aura, rewrote the laws of magic so that all individuals born in Auguara could use magic, this system was no longer needed. The sentiment, though, remained, leading to the mission being created.   Today, mages live their lives in relative peace. Tensions among the kingdoms are at an all time low, at least on a superficial level. But that isn't to say that all is well in Auguara. Secrets that have been hidden for centuries are at the verge of being revealed, and the past that should have been long left behind will come back to life.
