Year 580 of the Imperial Era

Before the Imperium and the rise of man, the Elven nations ruled over the majority of Atria, with Humanity centered far to the south (in what became Ulfen-Oclesh), and in the north (Ursikra). The Elven empires were plagued with headstrong and ambitious mages, of whom five were the greatest.   Alderath, Norela, Cyria, Loremar, and Valdroth, the greatest Elven mages to have lived, they rose to the heights of their civilization, ruling their peoples in unison. Using any method at their call, to gain power, and extend their hold over the world. They spurred on the enslavement of humanity, as the elves began to move north, and gain power.   As humans had no magical affinity, their enslavement eventually proved fruitless for the magi, as they could not sacrifice them for any gain in power. Yet elves had natural affinity, and thus they began killing thousands of their own people, in ritual sacrifice; increasing their magical powers far beyond what elves had believed was the limit.   Yet for all their power, they could not save themselves from the vengeance of their people. It was not by magic, but by the sword, that the people "betrayed" and murdered the magi. Snuffing out the lives of the greatest of their civilization, idols that had been corrupted by magic.   Yet they did not die, their bodies had died, yet their hold on their power, their spirits bond to the magic they controlled, was unbreakable. Their spirits lived on, Aimar's influence driving them all to a great rage, in which they cast a curse upon their people. The Elven race's affinity to magic was taken away, and the race was left powerless. The enchantments utilized in daily life, in the construction and fortification of their cities, faded. Yet, artifacts of power remained, including one of which ensured that the elements could not be manipulated.   Thus for the gods to fully exact their vengeance, they needed aid, elves who supported them were far too few, and even then, were being hunted and killed by their brethren.   Thus the gods changed their names, to remove as much as their former identity as they deemed necessary. As they knew humans would recognize some of their names. They became Alderon, Nanthleene, Cyithrel, Aimar, and Kindroth. Then Alderon communed with the leader of the humans in the north, and made a deal, in which the Humans would be granted the power to destroy the elves, yet in return they must sacrifice the elves to them.   The communion between Alderon and who would become the first human emperor, sparked the creation of Humanity's first religion, named for what they called the conversation between the Emperor and the God of Wisdom.
