Gem Magic

This lost magic is a bit more unique, like Ley Magic, in that there is a plethora of historical information that has been uncovered and studied. Despite all the available information about the subject, none have been able to replicate it in the present day.
Gem Magic is the practice of storing spells into gems, similarly to how spell scrolls are used by modern casters. The biggest difference between the two is the potency of the spell. The magic around scribing spell scrolls limits the scroll to a single use, and can only be activated by someone trained in arcane energy. Spell gems however, have no such restrictions.
A gem imbued with a specific spell could be used as many times as desired until the the gem itself was destroyed or damaged beyond repair. These gems were in high demand during the Wars with Magic, and undoubtedly contributed to the immense destruction incurred during the age, especially considering they did not utilize any of the casters innate magic. The construction of these gems was however, very taxing on the creator.
