A World Changed

The landscape of Athunis has shifted much throughout the ages. Sometimes more literally than others...   Sure there are those individuals that believe the world itself broke apart at the end of the Wars with Magic, and there is plenty of historical evidence to support just that. But for most folk, thoughts of ages past, wars and wizards, planet altering effects...is just too much. Commonfolk prefer the simple things in life. Now, that is not to say they themselves are simple, because not all are. It is more an observation of one's interest beyond that which they have been tasked with maintaining.   You of course, aren't common folk. Else why would you be reading such a tome as this? Perhaps simply to understand more of the world around you? Or to arm yourself with the knowledge of the various Lords and Ladies that rule the different nations during your travels? Maybe instead you seek to understand the histories of those nations, and the events that led them to where they are today? Could it be you have an affinity for the natural world, and wish to know more about the pernicious nature of the Burning Wastes or the ancient marvel that is the Kryptgarden Forest?   Whatever your reasoning, you'll find some of your answers within these pages. Though you may need to venture off for more specific details...   In this chapter you will travel the world without ever leaving your seat. You will learn about the present day nations of Athunis and a bit of their history. Information such as political structures, allies and enemies, historically significant events, the various races that call a particular nation home, and maybe even the occasional bit of legend.   Should you ever find yourself in the Lands of Milk and Honey, Illustrious Wonder, or the Misty Plains you will be grateful for the knowledge imparted upon you here. Understanding the cultural norms of a nation you are visiting, or even just passing through, could make the difference between a safe journey and ending up in shackles.
