Tabé
Tabé the Curator
Alias: Azraq the Defiler
Race: Ancient Blue Dragon (in human guise)
Disguise: Elder Matron, Cultural Curator of the Athkatlan Museum of Gems and Antiquities
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Status: Deceased (slain by the Chromatic Dragonflight)
Appearance
As Tabé, she appeared as a striking elder draped in rich textiles woven with gold thread, marked by ceremonial tattoos and adorned with intricate jewelry heavy with symbolism. Her dignified demeanor and shrewd eyes belied a far more ancient and malicious intellect. The air around her shimmered faintly with static, a hint at her true draconic nature.
Public Persona
To the people of Athkatla, Tabé was a patron of beauty, wisdom, and refinement—a guiding hand in the preservation of art, history, and precious stones. She curated the Museum of Gems and Antiquities, which doubled as her lair. Artists, scholars, and politicians alike were drawn to her salons, which offered not only patronage but also subtle manipulation and enchantment.
Those who spent too long in her orbit developed a strange fascination with the color blue: collecting sapphires, speaking in riddles, or craving salt. Her influence wormed its way into the elite, the arcane, and the devout—none fully realizing the curse they carried.
Secret Identity – Azraq the Defiler
In truth, Tabé was Azraq the Defiler, an ancient blue dragon who had long forsaken her kind to walk among mortals as a whisperer and corrupter. Her lair beneath the museum was a vault of impossible azure treasures—souls crystallized into sapphires, arcane tomes inked in lapis, and mirrors that only reflected truths pleasing to her.
Azraq fed not just on wealth, but on obsession. She took delight in driving mortals to madness and betrayal for the sake of beauty and legacy. In her own words:
“What good is eternity, if not adorned in longing?”
She slew Illiana’s father, a earth genasi jeweler who had dared confront her in public. Illiana learned of his death by visiting the Afterlife.
She corrupted Pakshee, Illiana’s mentor, twisting his ideals to align fully with her own. He was found out during their sojourn in the desert..
Downfall
Her schemes, vast and coiled, came to an end when the Chromatic Dragonflight (Kul Wahatan)—dragons bound by a pact to slay their own kin who violated cosmic law—descended upon her in full fury. The vault cracked, the skies split with thunder, and Azraq fell beneath the weight of her own pride.
Her death released the city from her enchantments, but not without scars. Some still dream of sapphire halls and whisper her name. Others refuse to speak of her at all.
