Atheros

In the world of Atheros, magic seems to run through the veins of the land itself. Magic is generally well known to the inhabitants of this world, from the scholars in the Arcane College City of Wizard's Point, to simple village healers and menders, there tends to be some form of magic or magic user wherever you go. Despite this, not much is known of the origin of how magic became such a ubiquitous part of the people of Atheros' lives.   Throughout the world, there are mysterious areas of dormant power of unknown origin. It is speculated whether they are the remains of a civilisation long since past, perhaps gods or deities left them behind before moving on to wherever beings as those move to; or some believe they are of more sinister origin. They can be ruins, fields or plains that seem to have been decimated be some unknown force, underground abodes or caves, or even buildings that still stand. These areas are often studied, revered and fascinated by the inhabitants of the land, as the structures seem to be impossible to build with modern technologies, with architectures that don' make sense, or a scale that is simply far too grand. The power they contain that seems to resonate within them seems distinctly different from the known magic, leading them to be of great interest to the scholars of the land. These sites remain a mystery however, as the magic within them also seems to attract creatures of all natures, including those that pose a danger to those wanting to explore these areas.   There is relative peace amongst the world, nations are civil with each other so as to retain trade routes throughout the world, and races are rarely alone in a settlement, with a variety of races spread throughout the world.
