Session 30: Penny for your Thoughts?

When he returned to the keep Sebastian encountered Jocelynn Tychon returning just ahead of him. Throughout encounters throughout the day the party suspected that Jocelynn was trying to act overly normal. Sebastian later tailed Jocelynn to a meeting in the park with a gnomish woman. Their conversation indicated that the gnome was searching for the sword.   Sebastian was spooked when the hooded gnomish woman indicated that she knew of his presence. She set a meeting with Jocelynn for their previous meeting point and Sebastian followed the gnome at a distance because he had deduced that she could detect thoughts. She later lost Sebastian after slipping into an alley.   Following that encounter Sebastian tried thinking false thoughts and stayed at an inn in the slums. When Sebastian didn't return for the night Efferil elected to sleep at the safehouse where the duo met the following morning.   Sebastian discussed the previous night's findings as they hatched a plan to use false thoughts to lure the gnome into a trap. They got Bruce Rosemund to recruit a few guards which included Jalene Jarridson and got a pair of lead lined boxes, one for the actual sword as well as a decoy for the cottage. Efferil fortified the run down cottage with an oil trap while Sebastian tailed Jocelynn to the sea where she descended.   Sebastian downed his potion of water breathing and followed. He caught sight of large numbers of humanoid creatures moving along the sea floor, while difficult to make out beneath the waves they numbered dozens at minimum. In the depths he read the lips of Jocelynn as well as the gnomish woman before getting close enough for the latter to gleam his thoughts, which he forced to be a lie about moving the real sword to the cottage. Sebastian then sprinted towards the cottage before running out of breath and progressing more slowly.
