Identifying Magical Items

Rules for magic item identification differ from 5e rules.

Similarities

Like in 5e - identification of (most) magic items can be done with an identification spell.

Identification without spells

Magical items can be identified during rests, much like the normal 5e rules. Unlike the normal rules, this requires the use of the Arcana skill. On a success - the user understand the nature of the item after the rest. On a failure, they must try again at a different rest.   The DC's are based on the rarity of the item, as follows:
Common: 10
Uncommon: 14
Rare: 18
Very Rare: 22
Legendary: 26
Artifact: 30

Identification as a service

Based on skill or level, it may be impossible (or take a very long time) to identify an item. The players can also choose to seek a druid, cleric, templar, or sorcerer to identify the item for a fee. The cost of this service will likely scale with the skill of the identifier, as well as the rarity of the item.
