Atharia

A simple land with simple people would be the very optimistic way to put Atharia.   The North is filled with icy mountains and forests that cover all sunlight, it is filled with resources such as coal, wood and various metals. This is possibly the only reason for people to inhabit the area. During the day, everything that lurks in the shadows keeps to the forests, but the travelers still dare not to step off tracts. During the night, people hear things, see things that shouldn't be and usually, keep to their houses.   The South is more welcoming, it doesn't have forests. One can however wander off into its Great Plains and be lost forever, even though there is nothing to hide behind. People live there, less wary of the night but more wary of the day's scorching sun. It can easily play with one's mind.   The East perhaps, is the most mystical part of the land, there is a balance of forests, meadows, and hills. It's very green, overflowing with workshops, traders and money. The people there may not fear the wild, but surely are wary of where they are going.   The West is possibly the least populated area of Atharia. even though its topography closely resembles the East, it seems more cunning, more... magical. This is the area where the Saint River has its bed and the priests hail the gods. The forests there are misty and the grasses tend to turn into mud. Only the tracks are safe for travelers, but those get hard to find after dark.   The central part is covered with fields and forests. But these are not the old, ancient forests that remember the Days of Creation. These woods are filled with light and serve as hunting grounds for those living in the Capitol.
