Scaull's Scar

"Bubbling beneath those oily black waves, Scaull lays in waiting for any and all unfortunate souls that fall into his scar."

A collection of boiling hot tar pits surrounded by steep cliffs form Scaull's Scar. A black mark can be seen on one of the lower plateaus. This mark is heavily associated with the dark arts and believed to be made by Zog the Eldest, one of the greatest Necromancers of all time. Many young necromancers travel to the scar for meditation and practice.

History

Ever since his birth, the scar has been home to the Behemoth Scaull. An elemental made of tar and the preserved remains of creatures that have perished in the sticky tar. With every death he grew, and so did the scar.   After years of activity the Behemoth eventually fell dormant, only waking up once every thousand years. The stench of decay and power eventually draw the attention of the Dusk Lord, a mighty god who ruled over the Orcs with an iron fist. One of his Orcs, called Zog, had not too long ago discovered necromancy and had trained group of necromancers for his lord.   While Zog was initially successful in his ritual to reawaken Scaull from his slumber, he was slain by a Sun Elf called Tiri before he could finish the second ritual and bind the creature. She had stalked the group and waited for the perfect moment to strike and destroy this foul new magic. Scaull became enraged once he realised what had happened and began to trash about. Destroying the cliffs on which the necromancers were standing, and many fell to their doom.   Five of Zogs most loyal followers started to call for their master and tried to reanimate his blood-filled lounges, giving Zog enough time and strength to raise himself into a lich. With one swift movement of his undead body he cast a bolt of foul magic and struck down his assassin who he raised as his personal bodyguard. Seeing no hope to salvage the damage caused by the failure of the ritual, Zog took what was left of his followers and fled Scaull's Scar.
