Bog Snoek
"Nobody really appreciates a Bog Snoek like an Alba man does"
Bog Snoeks are vicious amphibious predators that hunt in and around the Bogs and Marshes.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Bog Snoeks look similar to a white Northern Pike but with some obvious adjustments for life on land, it still maintains the look of a sleek, scaled, predatory fish. The main difference between the Bog Snoek and its aquatic cousin is its pectoral fins that have become much larger allowing it to move overland using its fins, when 'walking' it is far less graceful than underwater using it fins and flopping its tail.
Ecology and Habitats
As the name implies the Bog Snoek can mostly be found in temperate bogs and marshes. They are fresh-water fish and tend to reside around high altitude mountainside areas where the temperature is generally milder than most of Astronasia.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Bog Snoeks usually prey on fish and small mammals.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Bog Snoeks tend to be solitary creatures due to lack of available food sources, either because the food is scarce or because the Bog Snoek has grown to such a size that the local food sources can't support more than one of them. When conditions are right Bog Snoeks do gather in numbers, there have even been reports of them herding food when it is plentiful, keeping the prey together until they grow hungry again.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Bog Snoeks hunt primarily by sight, being able to see clearly through troubled waters.
