Vomelk - Scorpio

Scorpio Vomelk (a.k.a. Blood Hunter of the Abyssal Pact)

Vomelk, known by the codename “Scorpio,” was a Simic Hybrid born of the bio-forged city of Morphaleum. Once a shipbound artillerist navigating the waters around Aspor, he became a haunted wanderer after the razing of his home village. Shunned in holy lands and plagued by trauma, he sought purpose in darkness, eventually undergoing the Hunter’s Bane and embracing lycanthropy. A monster made by grief and rejection, Vomelk served the Stargaze Assembly and the Overseer, his talents sharpened to a lethal point. He fell in battle in 850 A.D., slain by the Archwardens in a desperate attempt to seize the Orb of Eletania.   Vomelk—Scorpio to those who knew him in the shadows—was a product of betrayal, vengeance, and evolution. Though born into a world of progress and promise, the cruelty of others reshaped him into a predator stalking justice. His death in 850 A.D. during the clash in Auriglim marked not just the end of a feared blood hunter, but the severing of one of the Overseer’s strongest links to the material plane. Yet even in death, whispers of Scorpio’s influence linger in the deep places of the world, where desperation and mutation fester into new forms of darkness.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Peak physical condition, enhanced via hemocraft and hybrid augmentations

Body Features

Vomelk’s body is a towering, sinewy fusion of apex predator and arcane augmentation. His arms are elongated and digitigrade, ending in massive clawed hands with webbing between the fingers that retracts when not submerged. His musculature ripples unnaturally, bones shifting beneath the surface as though in constant anticipation of transformation. Dense tufts of bioluminescent fur sprout along his shoulders, spine, and calves, pulsing faintly with inner Hemocraft energy.

Facial Features

Vomelk’s face elongates into a partial muzzle, his lower jaw capable of distending further in transformed states. His teeth are a hybrid of wolfish canines and barbed anglerfish fangs, and bioluminescent whiskers hang from his jawline like jellyfish tendrils.

Identifying Characteristics

His eyes become feral and forward-set, bright amber orbs that glow in dim light. He bears a vertical scar over his heart where his mutation was most invasive—a constant reminder of the Hunter’s Bane and Overseer’s touch.

Physical quirks

In his hybrid or fully transformed state, his legs reverse-joint into a beast-like configuration, giving him a low, prowling gait. When he runs, he drops to all fours for rapid movement, claws digging into the earth or stone for traction.

Special abilities

Lycanthropy – Dire-Werewolf Form Vomelk can fully transform into a Simic-infused werewolf hybrid, larger than most lycans, with elongated claws, enhanced lung capacity for underwater combat, and monstrous strength. His bite is not only feral but infused with aberrant blood magic.   Horrid Howl (Hemocraft Feature) Once per short rest, Vomelk can unleash a psychic, abyssal howl that causes enemies within 30 ft to become frightened unless they succeed on a Wisdom save. The howl carries the resonance of both beast and the Deep.   Amphibious Mutation In hybrid form, Vomelk gains underwater breathing, a swim speed equal to his base speed, and sonar-like echolocation in dim environments (30 ft blindsense).   Savage Brand His Brand of Castigation now leaves a glowing claw-mark, which physically sears into his enemies, tracking their blood trail no matter where they hide—beast meets blood magic.
