Tetherkeeper Vazra Boulderclimb

Tetherkeeper of Tetherfall Vazra Boulderclimb (a.k.a. The Windwoven)

Tetherkeeper Vazra Boulderclimb is the stoic and revered leader of Tetherfall, the rope-suspended Kor settlement nestled in the Wyrmspine Gorge. A master of spiritual tradition and climbing discipline, Vazra embodies the Kor ideals of balance, silence, and reverence for the land. Known for her unmatched climbing prowess and unshakable composure, she guides her people with quiet authority from the Skyhook Tower, weaving together innovation, tradition, and the spiritual heartbeat of the gorge.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Peak agility and balance. Light but enduring, capable of traversing entire cliff faces without pause.

Identifying Characteristics

Bioluminescent knot-marking tattoo spiraling from her left temple down to her collarbone. Long scar on right hand from a rope burn received during a rescue mission.

Physical quirks

Tends to lean into wind currents instinctively. Will test new ropes by balancing her full weight on a single finger.

Special abilities

Windstride: Once per day, she can leap across vast gaps with impossible grace, carried by a spiritual updraft. Tether Sense: Feels every rope in her vicinity as if they were extensions of her own body—able to detect vibrations, tension shifts, and intrusions.

Apparel & Accessories

Sleeveless climbing cloak of woven windsilk, lined with hidden pockets and anchor-hooks. Wears ceremonial sashes of three colors: white for clarity, blue for silence, silver for tradition.

Specialized Equipment

Sky-Tether: A legendary rope made from wind-thread and infused with elemental energy; can be mentally manipulated to extend, anchor, or retract. Echo Mask: A ceremonial mask worn in the Cavern of Echoes that resonates with ambient ley energy to guide spiritual visions.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Vazra was a rope-dancer, spiritual apprentice, and one of the earliest settlers to scale the cliffs of Wyrmspine after the Kor’s arrival in 873. She rose to leadership through service, guiding expeditions, restoring sacred rites, and forging bonds with the Earth Genasi of the Forge of Earth.

Education

Taught in the old Kor traditions—sacred knots, silent speech, spiritual harmonics. Studied leyline mapping and tether-weaving under the Knotweavers.

Employment

Formerly a pathfinder and spiritual emissary. Now serves as the political, spiritual, and infrastructural head of Tetherfall.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Founded the Windward Guild to develop sustainable wind tech. Re-opened the Cavern of Echoes and restored ancestral meditations. Personally scaled the Skyhook Spire without aid, an unprecedented feat.

Failures & Embarrassments

A failed diplomatic mission with a neighboring Kenku faction led to the loss of several tether routes and strained relations with groundfolk. She once lost a sacred heirloom rope to the gorge winds—an event she publicly reflects upon as her greatest shame.

Mental Trauma

Still haunted by the night of the Transposition—she recalls the “tearing sound” of home being uprooted from the Astral plane. Struggles with the responsibility of leading in an alien world.

Intellectual Characteristics

Deeply contemplative, mathematically intuitive, ritualistic thinker. Avoids binary logic, favoring interconnected, cyclical understanding.

Morality & Philosophy

Believes in sacred equilibrium—each act must leave the world lighter, not heavier. Balance between spiritual reverence and technological growth is key to survival.

Taboos

  • Cutting rope without a knot-rite.
  • Speaking the name of the gorge's original spirit (believed to be slumbering).
  • Wearing stone directly against the skin (seen as spiritually abrasive).

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

To preserve Kor identity while adapting to the demands of a new world. Dreams of creating a sanctuary that feels like Astrithys did—elevated, spiritual, untethered.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Master ropeweaver, geomancer, and silent strategist   Inept with crowded cities, politics among louder races, and traditional warfare tactics

Likes & Dislikes

Wind, silence, storm meditation, knot-crafting, cliff honey   Dislikes: Loud machinery, clutter, pointless conversation, open water

Virtues & Personality perks

Patient, visionary, loyal, deeply spiritual, protective

Vices & Personality flaws

Withdraws emotionally when under pressure; can be unbending in tradition to a fault

Personality Quirks

Talks to ropes as if they’re alive. Carries a pouch of sand from Astrithys she sprinkles before every major decision.

Hygiene

Exceptionally clean—bathing is a ritual involving scented cliff herbs and wind-swept cloths. Believes grime attracts misfortune.

Social

Family Ties

Daughter of an ancestral spiritualist and a cliff-runner. No surviving siblings. Does not currently partner, but is spiritually bonded to her late mentor, Korun Knotblind.

Social Aptitude

Respectfully distant. Inspires awe through composure and poise rather than charisma. Known to speak only when silence has been properly heard.

Mannerisms

Always checks rope knots before speaking to someone. Sits on high ledges during gatherings. Pauses before responding, weighing wind and word.

Speech

Low, melodic, and sparse. Every word feels intentional. Sometimes speaks in Kor metaphors: “The knot holds, or the fall begins.”

Wealth & Financial state

Lives simply—wealth is communal among Kor. Holds ceremonial items of great value, but personally claims little material wealth.
