Lustrum - Bywynne

Formerly the vibrant home quarter of the Genasi, it has now evolved into a shared space where the Kalashtar, Tieflings, and a very small group of Aasimar have also settled. The district is known for its integration of different races, each with their unique traditions, philosophies, and magical affinities. While it still retains the elemental influence of its Genasi roots, Bywynne is now a melting pot of dreamwalkers, infernal scholars, and celestial descendants, making it one of the most eclectic and mystical places in the metropolis.

History

Bywynne was founded long after the Pandora War, after certain creatures beagn appearing from tears caused by the Sins. One such group;Genasi, were left moving nomadically for hundreds of years not being accepted by the races originally on this plane, since they also appeared from tears from when the elemental planes had first leaked into the material plane. In the year 700; A group of the informally classified "Stray Races" held an informal council near the pastel prarie and had deciede to take up some unclaimed land and make it as their own, with certain features needs for certain races. Aether, the leader of the genasi people at the time as they were made of all 4 of the elements settled with the genasi near the coastline but within a flat plain they could harness small tears in the elemental planes while keep others in the township safe.   Today, The genasi have mostly left the quarter, moving to the town of fogholt where elemental energies run rampant. However Kalashtar, Aasimar and Tiefling refugees after their struggles in the 2nd Pandora War have left the whispering alps and found a home in Bywynne.

Surrounded by a peaceful grove, the shrine consists of a single, delicately carved stone altar inscribed with the words, “Even in darkness, the light remains.” A ring of stones surrounds the altar, where devotees light candles at dusk, creating a glowing circle that represents the triumph of light over shadow.   Here, people come to offer small prayers or to light a candle for loved ones lost or struggling with their own battles. The shrine’s simplicity reflects Zariel's belief in the strength of personal transformation, unadorned by grandiose symbols. Visitors often place tokens of their own journeys—such as written confessions, tokens of past mistakes, or symbols of growth—around the altar, and the local priests occasionally burn these offerings in a nightly ritual, symbolizing the release of past darkness into cleansing light.
