Lin'Selvéar

Lin'Selvear, meaning "Sea of Trees" in the old elven tongue, is a vast and ancient forest that stretches across the northern reaches of Ofrana. Originally, it was two distinct forests: the Verdant Green and Cyankadi, each with its own ecosystems, histories, and cultural significance. However, after centuries of restoration efforts, the forests were unified into one grand and sprawling woodland, now named in honor of the Sea of Leaves, the ancestral homeland of the elves that was tragically destroyed 800 years ago. Today, Lin'Selvear serves as the heart of Elven culture in Astrium, a sanctuary for both nature and magic. The forest is lush and thriving, with towering trees, glowing flora, and an air of timeless serenity. It is home to numerous elven settlements, the most prominent of which is the High Elven settlement of Cyankadi, the political and spiritual capital of the forest.   Points of Interest Cyankadi, the Emerald Spire The High Elven settlement of Cyankadi is the crown jewel of Lin'Selvear. Known as the Emerald Spire due to its towering central palace made of living wood and enchanted crystal, Cyankadi is both a majestic city and a sacred refuge. The city is intricately woven into the trees, with walkways suspended between ancient branches and homes growing directly from the trunks of massive trees. The architecture reflects the elves' deep connection to nature, with every structure designed to blend harmoniously with the surrounding forest. Cyankadi is also a place of magical study, where the High Elves continue their pursuit of knowledge, both in arcane arts and in their history, attempting to preserve what was lost from the destruction of the Sea of Leaves. The Emerald Council rules from here, made up of elders and mages who oversee the protection of the forest and its people.   The Eversong Grove Deep within the heart of Lin'Selvear lies the Eversong Grove, a mystical glade where the boundary between the physical and spiritual realms is thin. The trees here glow softly, their leaves emitting a faint, melodic hum that is said to be the voices of the ancient elves who once roamed the Sea of Leaves. Eversong Grove is a place of pilgrimage for elves from all over Astrium, who come to meditate, commune with nature, and pay homage to their ancestors. The grove is also home to an ancient, immortal tree known as the Syllarion, which is believed to have been planted by the first elven settlers. The Syllarion is revered for its healing properties, and its sap is used in powerful elixirs that can cure even the most grievous wounds. However, the grove is heavily protected by elven rangers and druids, as it is considered sacred ground.   The Whispering Falls Along the northern edge of Lin'Selvear, where the forest meets the Blue Cascades mountain range, lies the Whispering Falls, a series of cascading waterfalls that tumble down from the high cliffs and into the forest below. The water flows through channels made by ancient elven hands, creating a tranquil and awe-inspiring sight. What makes these falls unique is the whispering sound that emanates from them; legends say that the falls carry the voices of the old gods and nature spirits, and that anyone who listens carefully can hear their secrets. Elven scholars and mystics often gather here to meditate and seek guidance from the spirits of the land. The falls also provide life to the surrounding forest, and many settlements rely on the pure, magically infused water for their survival. It is said that the water from the Whispering Falls can enhance one's magical abilities, and it is frequently used in elven rituals and potions.   The Verdant Sanctuary Located at the heart of Lin'Selvear is the Verdant Sanctuary, a vast temple dedicated to Corellon Larethian, the elven god of magic, music, and arts. The sanctuary was built as a tribute to the ancient elven gods and as a place for spiritual reflection and magical study. The temple is an architectural marvel, with towering arches made of intertwined trees, delicate carvings, and pools of water that reflect the stars, even during the day. Within its walls, elven priests and archmages offer blessings, teach the arts of arcane magic, and maintain the balance between nature and magic. The Verdant Sanctuary is also the site of many important elven festivals, including the Festival of Blossoms, where elves from all over Astrium come to celebrate the renewal of nature and the coming of spring. During these festivals, the sanctuary is adorned with flowers, and the elves perform ancient dances and songs passed down through generations.   The Sylvan Glade At the far eastern edge of Lin'Selvear, nestled between the trees, is the Sylvan Glade, a mysterious and serene area said to be a portal to the Feywild. The glade is often bathed in an ethereal light, and the air is thick with the scent of wildflowers and magic. According to legend, this glade was once a place where the Fey Courts would meet with the elven kings of old, and though the portal has not opened for centuries, many elves believe that the Fey still watch over the forest from afar. The Sylvan Glade is a favorite destination for bards, rangers, and druids, who come here to practice their arts and seek inspiration from the Feywild’s lingering magic. The glade is also home to many rare and magical creatures, such as pixies, dryads, and unicorns, who are drawn to the area's powerful and ancient magic.
  • Citadel of the Eternal Grove
The Citadel of the Eternal Grove, nestled high in the rugged edges of the forest, stands as a testament to Obad-Hai’s power over even the most remote and untamed places. The citadel is built directly into the mountainside, where massive trees have grown over centuries to form its natural walls and towers. It is an awe-inspiring fortress of nature, where stone paths wind through thick forests that grow atop the cliffs themselves, and waterfalls cascade from hidden springs, providing life to the many plants and animals that call this place home. The citadel is accessible only through steep, winding paths or by druids who can transform into birds and other creatures, making it a refuge for those deeply devoted to Obad-Hai’s natural law.   At the heart of the citadel lies the Chamber of the Great Oak, an open-air temple surrounded by towering ancient trees, where druids and nature priests gather to meditate, commune with the spirits of the earth, and offer rituals to maintain balance within the land. The citadel also serves as a haven for endangered species and those seeking refuge from the encroachments of civilization, a living sanctuary where nature’s order is preserved and protected. Its inhabitants, known as the Wardens of the Shalm, dedicate their lives to defending nature’s sanctity, overseeing the delicate ecosystems of the cliffs and the lands beyond. Visitors who make the difficult pilgrimage to the citadel often leave with a deeper respect for the raw power and beauty of the natural world, understanding Obad-Hai’s role as its eternal steward.   Lin'Selvear is a place where the ancient and modern, the natural and magical, coexist in perfect harmony. The elves of this forest have dedicated their lives to preserving its beauty, ensuring that it stands as a beacon of their culture, history, and mystical traditions. Through their efforts, Lin'Selvear thrives, and it remains a sacred refuge for all those who honor the balance of nature and magic.

History

Lin'Selvear was originally two forests; the Verdant Green and Cyankadi. However restoration efforts have made the forests combine and expand across the top corners of Ofrana. Through the combination, the Elven Kingdom of Cyankadi had voted to rename the combined forest after their original home that was destroyed 800 years ago. Lin'Selvéar houses many elven settlements, but houses the named High Elven settlement of Cyankadi.
