Fogholt

Fogholt, a once-thriving artisan town, now stands as a unique settlement intertwined with elemental forces. The town was abandoned after several elemental tears opened and wreaked havoc on the landscape, warping it into a dangerous, ever-shifting place. Seventy years ago, the Genasi, attuned to the elemental energies, reclaimed the town and learned to harness the raw power of the tears, turning disaster into opportunity. Today, Fogholt is a place of dangerous beauty, cloaked in a constant fog filled with elemental phenomena like bursts of fire, wind gusts, stone rains, and sprays of water.   Fogholt was founded in 510 A.D. by the esteemed human artisan Hestian Rosevale, originally as a hub for artisans and craftspeople to create beautiful works and experiment with different forms of art.   Fogholt is a place of both beauty and danger, where elemental forces and artisanal mastery combine to create a settlement unlike any other in the world of Astrium.

Demographics

The majority of the population consists of Genasi of all elements, with smaller communities of humans, dwarves, and gnomes who either assist in managing the elements or seek the artisanal mastery that the city offers.   55% Genasi (equal parts Air, Earth, Fire, and Water) 25% Human 10% Dwarf 5% Gnome 5% Other

Government

Fogholt operates under a council system, with the Genasi council presided over by a group of four elder representatives—one from each elemental discipline (Air, Earth, Fire, and Water). The council’s primary goal is to maintain harmony between the city and the surrounding elemental forces. A city overseer is elected every 10 years to manage day-to-day affairs

Defences

The town’s greatest defense is the elemental fog that surrounds it, with bursts of fire, wind, and rock serving as natural deterrents. Additionally, elemental wards and barriers protect the town from intruders. The Genasi have also trained elemental guardians, creatures summoned from the tears, to defend the city when needed.

Industry & Trade

Fogholt’s primary industries revolve around artisan crafts and elemental-infused goods. Farmers in the district grow crops adapted to different elements, which are highly sought after in larger cities. The elemental-infused weapons forged in the Sierra Blaze Forge are also a major export.

Infrastructure

The city's infrastructure is built to withstand the volatile elemental forces surrounding it. Stone buildings reinforced with elemental magic form the core of the city, while steam-powered mechanisms are used to control the town’s unique elevators and gates. The elemental energy is also channeled into the Sierra Blaze Forge and various artisanal workshops.
