Aasimar

Whether descended from a celestial being or infused with heavenly power, aasimar are mortals who carry a spark of the Upper Planes within their souls. They can fan that spark to bring light, ease wounds, and unleash the fury of the heavens. Aasimar can arise among any population of mortals. They resemble their parents, but they live for up to 160 years and often have features that hint at their celestial heritage. These often begin subtle and become more obvious when the aasimar gains the ability to reveal their full celestial nature. The Aasimar

Celestial Renewal Date: Purpose: To honor the Aasimar's celestial heritage, their trials throughout history, and the power of renewal, including a coming-of-age ceremony for young Aasimar.   Celestial Renewal is a sacred holiday for the Aasimar people, celebrated in remembrance of their divine origins and the strength they have shown through centuries of persecution and hardship. It also marks the coming of age for young Aasimar, a time when they receive memories of their former lives and deepen their connection to their celestial lineage.   The Invocation of Light The celebration begins at dawn with the Invocation of Light. The Aasimar gather in a sacred space within Auriglim or Bywynne, facing the rising sun. As the first rays of sunlight break the horizon, they perform a ritual invocation, calling upon the celestial powers within them. They sing ancient hymns that resonate with the divine energies of the Orb of Eletania, reminding them of their origins and the guiding light within.   The Pilgrimage of Remembrance At midday, the Aasimar embark on the Pilgrimage of Remembrance. They walk in a solemn procession through the ruins of Auriglim or the streets of their current settlements, carrying relics and symbols of their heritage. This pilgrimage is a journey through their history, acknowledging the trials they have endured, from their celestial blessings to the abandonment of Auriglim and their years in hiding. Along the path, they offer prayers and reflections on the resilience and hope that have sustained them.   The Ritual of Rebirth In the afternoon, the Aasimar gather for the Ritual of Rebirth, a ceremony of renewal and transformation. This ritual is especially significant for young Aasimar who have reached the age of 20, marking their coming of age.   The Circle of Ascension: The young Aasimar, known as "Neophytes," step forward to join the Circle of Ascension. They stand before the Orb of Eletania, a symbol of their celestial power and history. One by one, each Neophyte places their hands on the orb. In this sacred moment, they receive the memories of their former lives—a flood of visions and experiences from the past. This transfer of memories marks their transformation, awakening them to their full potential and the wisdom of their celestial ancestry.   The Renewal Blessing: After the Neophytes have received their memories, the rest of the Aasimar partake in the Renewal Blessing. They also place their hands on the orb or a representative artifact, renewing their connection to their celestial powers. This act symbolizes the ongoing cycle of rebirth and renewal, much like the cycle of reincarnation that defines their existence. It is a moment of personal and communal rejuvenation, reinforcing their purpose and strength.   The Feast of Unity As evening falls, the Aasimar hold the Feast of Unity. This feast is a communal gathering where they celebrate their unity and the bonds they have formed over centuries. It is a time of joy and fellowship, where stories of their celestial ancestors, the struggles they have overcome, and the experiences of the newly ascended Neophytes are shared. The feast features celestial-themed dishes and drinks, representing the blending of their divine heritage with their earthly lives. Music and dance are integral parts of the celebration, symbolizing the harmonious balance they strive for.   The Celestial Vigil The holiday concludes with the Celestial Vigil. As the stars emerge in the night sky, the Aasimar light candles and place them in a circular formation, representing the eternal cycle of light and life. They hold a vigil in silence, reflecting on their journey, the lives they have lived, and the path that lies ahead. This quiet moment of introspection is followed by the Chant of Stars, a hymn that speaks to the hope and guidance offered by the celestial realm. The vigil is a reaffirmation of their commitment to live as beacons of light in a world that once sought to extinguish them.   Celestial Renewal is more than a holiday; it is a spiritual journey and a rite of passage for the Aasimar. It marks the coming of age for the young, the renewal of their celestial blessings, and the celebration of their resilience. Through this day, they reconnect with the celestial light within them and celebrate the unity and purpose that guide their existence in Astrium.

History

The Aasimar were originally humanoids who were given blessings of celestial powers during the Pandora War. They had lived in a protected celestial city of gold and a strange silver metal (Today known as Auriglim). It was here that the celestial blessings are stored in the Orb of Eletania, which aids in their reincarntion rituals.   After the events of realmshatter and the pandora war ended. The Aasimar were alienated from society with minimal purpose and humanoid conjecture that their presense would draw more they were hunted. They decided to hide the city fo Aurigilm, letting it fall to ruin. For centuries the Aasimar lived in a small settlement known as Kaspax; where they stayed in solitude at the base of the whispering alps.   During the Prismatic Parliaments return that signified the beginning of the 2nd Pandora War the island of Daradoel was a vast jungle land that hid the city of Auriglim.   After the events of the 2nd Pandora War the Aasimar eventually abandoned Kaspax and headed back to Auriglim; while some had moved to Bywynne, a quarter in Lustrum Metropolis, after making a deal with the Kalashtar and Tiefling at a summit in the Whispering Alps.   Today the Aasimar are being that are hoping to have their own say in the Astrium council, but for now they are in a combined leadership within Lustrums Councils.
