Royal Executioner

A rank of the pale devils that evokes a deep fear in those that know what it means. Royal Executioners got their name from assassinating royals & nobles. They are ruthless killers who will do anything for the right price. And that price is not cheap. The only person they answer to is the grand chieftain. Other than that, they have free reign to do as they wish. There are a total of 10 executioners in Astrenium. 3 of them are on the continent Egealias. They are nomadic, periodically checking in with home base and paying their guild dues. Every 10 years they gather at home base and have a large feast to celebrate their accomplishments. It’s also a good time to catch up and learn who killed who. It is very challenging to reach this rank. You must prove yourself worthy for such an honor. The highest rank you can achieve other than grand chieftain. Therefore, there are few of them. Most of those holding this rank are very old and very strong. The grand chieftain has 2 “retired” executioners as his advisors. Very scary guys. They rarely take on missions these days usually delegating them to the executioners they trained themselves. Royal Executioners are secretive and often mistaken as the archsentinel if they’re seen in a guild hall. They have the same authority as an archsentinel, if not more. They would rather not use that. They became an executioner for a reason. Every so often when they do stay at a guild hall, they might see a commander with exceptional skill. Some will offer to train them further and take them on missions to learn what it means to be a Royal Executioner. Others choose to observe for a while to see if this person really holds any promise of succeeding in the rank.
