Astraea

A world where science and magic collide and divide nations. Haunted caverns hide beneath the sewers of a megacity. An enormous desert keeps its secrets even from the nomadic tribes who survive its extreme temperatures and unnatural dangers. Creatures both familiar and strange roam, keeping most of humanity clustered. Among the assorted myths and fragmented histories, stories of a falling star appear again and again...   Astraea was originally intended to be a comprehensive world that merged fantasy and science fiction and allowed individuals to play in it as virtually anything. It was also meant to be a setting that players could mostly-freely build upon, initially set up as a forum and a wiki, and that anyone was welcome to reference. Sadly, its initial incarnation could not be sustained, and worse, most of the data collected was ultimately lost.   With this fresh start, I'm hoping to tighten up some standards, refresh some ideas, and get a solid start before potentially re-introducing it as the "open source setting" it was originally meant to be.
