Magitech Generators
Magitech Generators create large amounts of electrical and/or magical power by drawing mana from various sources- typically the environment forces like tectonic movement, sunlight, water currents, the wind, etc. However, there are also multiple sizes and variations of magitech generators: some can be as large as a building and small enough to fit on the tip of your finger. Furthermore, they can also be powered directly by mana sources, such as rare minerals, biological materials like blood, and even ephemeral sources like souls and spirits. Most of these are more advanced and are rarely found, but the more mundane kind that have weak efficiency levels or use only conventional sources for energy can still be found in some communities of Tere de Lu and beyond. Truly they are the most significant innovation in the world of Aspiritus.
They have various uses, from powering basic appliances like lights and air conditioners to giving life to machines to channeling mana into the most powerful rituals known to mortals. Some can even be used to power weapons, such as magitech jezails or magitech artillery. They are incredibly versatile devices and can be used in a variety of ways, and are some of the rarest and most coveted of lost relics from Old Eruditus and the Old Empire. Even the intermediate ones are incredibly valuable, but only to those who can even recognize what they are. To the average shopkeeper they are funny trinkets or piles of junk, and so there have been instances of Seekers finding them in the most mundane of places, like a kenku's horde, a gnomes knickknack shelf, and even occasionally as jewelry worn by nobility.
However, despite all their benefits and versatility, magical traditionalists shun them and believe they are a cheap alternative to proper rituals and mana channeling done manually by talented people. Others however find them a useful alternative for sourcing mana from places that might otherwise be harmful if not downright immoral, such as blood sacrifice.
