Hana Ori

Lady Hana Ori was the peerless monk and a legendary hero of Tere de Ro during the Civil War and Great Exodus, and would become the Founding Duchess of the relatively young nation of Han in Tere de Lu during 5 CE. Hana Ori originated from the prestigious Han Clan, and was the runaway heir to the fallen city of Han'Sho before she met Sir Martin and the rest of the party- adventuring with them until the Civil War grew worse and they were called upon to protect their people and prepare to escape. She was a proud disciple of the Order of the Open Palm- a popular monastic order that was very widespread throughout Tere de Ro and also Tere de Lu following the founding of the Duchy of Han. She was originally known for being a sparky, untamed, flurry of words and blows-- as quick to smile and come to aid of others as she was to leap into the fray and mercilessly strike down her enemies barehanded. She entered a brief period of depression after her dear friend (and alleged lover) St. Martin passed away and his ashes interred at the newly christened settlement of his namesake-- but over several months of adventuring with her comrades in the great exploratory expedition south in search of new homes for their peoples, her spirits were rekindled anew.   After parting ways with Kelethin and O'nesqi, Hana Ori was 9 months pregnant while leading her caravan down the coast of the Mae'Govond Glades to the fertile floodplains of Luteland, a terrain reminiscent of her lost homeland. She would have gone further, still, until she was pressured by her caravan to seek shelter and rest until her children were born and she was well enough to continue traveling. Eventually they would come to a plateu overlooking the High String Delta and the Wyrmblood Sea- on it were ancient walls and ruined buildings half buried in the sand with a small community of vagrants dwelling in the shade: Hana Ori would claim this place as the new home for her people, and a month later would give birth to twin daughters: Kim'bo Ori and Mi'ko Ori. For the next few years she would lead her people through many forms of hardship- terrorsongs and soulfalls, floods, raids by brigands, political intrigue, even a great plague, until after 5 years she was able to unite the surrounding settlements along the High Strings of the Lutestring River under her banner and formally establish the Duchy of Han on the 5th year of the Current Era.   Duchess Hana Ori's reign was long, and her life longer still. For the next 40 years she ruled the Duchy of Han from Han'Xia and would establish the "Han Reforms", guaranteeing equal protection for all persons under the law so long as they followed the law, established regulations of trade, property ownership, military regulations, and public services and amenities such as free education, civil and criminal courts, and much much more. Eventually however her rule would come to an end with her retirement and naming her daughter Mi'Ko Ori as the heir to the duchy and would name her other daughter, Kim'bo, as the heir to the Order of the Open Palm-- an act that separated the civil from the militant while providing a delicate balance of power between her two heirs so that they would not feud or fight for control over their inheritance, once she came to pass. Fortunately for all, they did not feud, and respected her will long after her passing at the venerable age of 113. She is hailed as one of the paragons of humanity akin to St. Martin (so much so that the Order of St. Martin fashioned their coat of arms, an open palm surrounded by light as an homage to her), is a legendary hero to nearly all Roani, and will be prayed to alongside one's ancestors by many a Hanese citizen.
