Elementalists

probably the most common of all witches, but don't let that fool you - elemental magic is nothing to scoff at, nor is it easy to master. Elementalists are usually attuned to the world around them from a very young age, tethered to one element or more to a borderline physical degree; in severe circumstances, for example, water elementalists have had to uproot their lives to move to the shorelines of Fairlight just to cure mysteriously powerful bouts of fatigue. Elemental magic is nothing to mess with; the studies of elementalists are often far more tactile than the studies of, say, Illusionists ; elementalist mages often work with other magical creatures associated with their chosen or "assigned" elements; earth mages may choose to work with the dryads of the woodlands, for example. Elementalists usually seem to band together, no matter what element(s) they're particularly attuned to, and while they're not as closed off from the world as illusionists tend to be, it's a whole lot easier for them to relate to each other, which is why they often reside in mostly elementalist-populated towns. They also often (but not always) take on the personality traits ascribed to the element(s) they bond with; a water elementalist may be more sensitive, a fire elementalist may be more impulsive, an earth elementalist may be more materialistic, an air elementalist may be more flighty, and so on.
